Mafias,

My newly acquired ZHP has an aftermarket air intake boot (mishimoto), which is not legit in California to pass the smog.

I ordered a Rein boot from FCP Euro.

While I tried to disconnect the boot from the a couple hoses, the small one snapped. The large one is still ok, but I can see some wear on the connecting part, so probably a good idea to replace, too (see attached picture).

Is there a DIY instruction for replacing these hoses?

Thanks in advance.

A bit more research, I found this super helpful thread - https://www.bimmerfest.com/threads/which-tube-goes-into-the-rubber-boot-for-air-intake.580225/#post-6429405.

I will take a closer look at the tubes to see if some connectors will do the trick for a temp fix or I have to replace them.

The proper F-tube piece is $3 from BMW. The vacuum tubing is also cheap.

the tube actually looks fine. It was the connector that snapped. The connector was so brittle and stuck with the tube so that I had to use a razor to cut it off. I bought the connector from Autozone and with a couple of zip ties, I am back on the road again :)
