Let's write down our initial mileage in 2022. Guess how many miles you will drive this year and compare with the real number when 2022 is over.

2005 ZHP: 153,075 miles. Guess 2,000
2011 X3: 140,251 miles. Guess 25,000
2012 335: 95,953 miles. Guess 5,000

2005 touring - 191,082. I would put 9k miles. Hopefully, I can join 200k miles club. That will be my 1st BMW with this mileage milestone.

2005 sedan - 171,589. I would guess that 5k miles will be a good estimate.

2005 Mersedes Sprinter camper van - 235,651. I will say it will be 2k since I am planning to put it for sale in spring of this year.

The zhp is in SD rn, and I’m in Seattle, so I have to guess it’s mileage.

Zhp:
currently 113k || guess 7.5k
Will be driving it quite a bit in the San Diego and LA areas til March, then driving it back up the PCH to Seattle, where I’ll garage it for a month before alternating it as a daily again.

2013 VW Tiguan S:
currently 62k || guess 6k
We got this one in 2015 as a CPO with 11k miles.

2001 Honda CR-V SE:
Currently 232k || guess 8k
Bought this one in 2019 as my beater to get me to Indiana and back, but I grew an affection for it and aim to restore it, turn it into an over lander even.

Not expecting any major road trips this year like I have the past few years so I should be able to have a decent estimate.

2018 Toyota RAV4: currently 72K, estimate: 10k

2005 330ci ZHP: currently: 141k, estimate: 5k (hopefully less)

2005 330i ZHP: currently: 107k, estimate: 2k (hopefully more, currently not running)

Ideally I'll get the sedan running and make that my daily, then detail the coupe and put it up for sale, but we'll see what 2022 brings!

Starting mileage: 86,666 miles
Estimated mileage in 2022: 7,500

I ended at exactly 91,000 miles as I pulled into the driveway my friend's beach house on the Oregon Coast.

Mileage at end of 12/31/22: 91,000
Mileage on 01/01/22: 86,666
Total miles driven 2022: 4,334
Estimated mileage for 2022: 7,500
Percent difference in estimated vs. actual: -42%

I chalk that inaccuracy up to having no clue as where I would land for residency and what that would look like in terms of driving.

2005 Sprinter - sold it in October with 238,165.

Also congrats on the M3, how much work is needed?Peterman's touring is running great and makes me happy driving it. Oil consumption increased recently. Rust is slowly growing on various places. Otherwise, it is great.
M3 mechanically is great! There is crazy amount of rust. It is upstate NY car that has been in multiple accidents and poorly repaired. I bought with intent to make s54 touring. Unfortunately, shell is not salvageable. So, is my zhp touring.
Here are the two rust buckets on the first day I bought M3.
How is life in CA? I see you also like biking?

Glad to hear it's running well! Sucks to hear about the rust - is the touring really that bad? I was skimming the thread where he had a bunch of paintwork done to it. If not S54 touring, what's the new plan?

Yeah, I got into road biking back in May, since I have some family friends with bikes and was pretty impressed after trying one of theirs out. It's definitely a good way to stay healthy, I'd rather go out and explore than lift weights in a gym. Lately it's been raining a lot, but hoping to get back out next weekend, and there is an abundance of bike lanes and nice roads out here!

I have 45 mm deep wheels (ICAN) and maybe I'm too much of a noob, but I didn't really feel that much difference. Regardless, as a new rider I was blown away by how far I could freewheel on both my old (Mavic Aksium) and new wheels.

Thanks!
I absolutely love these wheels. I just bought them this past summer as my racing wheels. They are 60 mm.
Bike is noticeably quicker and handling is better. I didn't notice any penalty on climbing steep sections of VA mountains. I only used them several times. But, every time I am moving away from my stock Mavick training wheels, the difference in my bike ride is significant.
I forgot to say that bike become a tiny bit more comfortable as well.

Glad to hear that you like biking. Weight lifting is not for me.
There is a lot of rust, which can be repaired, but it will cost me a fortune. Two years ago front right jack point collapsed. Both rear arches are bad. There are rust bubble spots on both A pillars. There are other rust bubble spots on the body. All 4 doors and rear hatch are badly rusted. Doors can be replaced though.
I am settled on full S54 touring, minus body work, for sure. That is why I bought that rusty M3. It has been registered and insured in 2022. Last week, I canceled the registration and planning to start taking M3 apart.
Pizza men saw it in person. I think he said something funny about me collecting rust. Which is kind of true. Botond actually drove it for a bit.
I really need to start a thread about this one.....

It's always exciting to hear about updates on the Touring, and I'm glad to know you're still driving and enjoying it. The original build thread was a huge inspiration to me and one of the reasons why I got my own red RWD touring a few years ago to convert to a ZHP. If you've got more info on its current state and the S54 swap you should definitely start a new thread.

Bummer that the rust has continued to grow, but it doesn't sound unfixable at this point. It's a truly rare and special car as I'm sure you are aware. Basically 1 of 1 spec once you start digging down into the nitty gritty of the options.

On E46 Fanatics we've been working on a spreadsheet to figure out all the North American touring production numbers, and do a complete option breakdown of every car.

Total production was around 20,500 cars, and VIN code EZ15XXX is for the facelift (2002-2005) tourings w/ RWD and manual transmission. This was the first group we've run through mdecoder to capture all the option content. There were only 738 cars of this spec built of the 754 shown in that range of VINs.

http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=39679&d=1674576910

Breaking down that range even further in the spreadsheet, EZ15717 was one of only 10 built with gloss shadowline trim, and the only one of those that was Japanrot.

hey folks! long time.... miss you all! life has been nuts up here in ontario. the time has come that i might look to getting back into a ZHP. my son is going to be 16 (!!) in june, and how awesome would it be to restore one with him?

anyway. happy to see fellow cyclists here too - i've gotten into it and have done some gravel racing, it's been a huge mental help for me. and, as per my usual tendencies... i have gone a little crazy with builds. :)

I had to do a double take because I thought you were talking about the Compact and started wondering if they sold them in Canada. Then I zoomed in on the picture and realized that the T stands for touring in this case.

Awesome that you've owned two of those on the list... I wish the US could have optioned the M-sport package for wagons, especially considering Canadian customers could. Sad to hear that the one other one you were looking at was parted out. They were definitely among the most rare E46 tourings you could get.

indeed. a black headliner in a Touring is a wonderful thing too. :) really helps with the outward visibility.

don't look on mobile.de for E46 Tourings. you'll find yourself next going to xe.com for conversion rates and then looking at the export process.......

Peter :) I find it ironic that I have two silver cars (both coupes) and two blue cars (sedan and wagon). Two naturally aspirated cars (my BMWs) and two twin turbo cars (my Audi and Porsche) :) The garage keeps me busy with the ZHP requiring most of the work this past year. I have made good solid progress slowly restoring my ZHP and fixing all the cut corners and headaches caused by the previous owner.

Anyway, things are going good and I'm still able to enjoy working on my cars and going HAM on them as usual :) It is good seeing you on the forum again and I'm looking forward to seeing what you have in store!

Sergy, if you're going to replace your current touring with a replacement touring then transfer all the mods over to the replacement touring, especially the OEM M3 side mirrors... don't make the same mistake I did and not get everything. Of course I let some things go because at that time I did not think I would ever be back in another ZHP. Ooooooo. I too have done a gravel race and got another one coming up end of the month, and it's pretty wild how pricey bike parts are! Actually, I'm financially into my bicycle far more than my motorcycle, but that's including the insurance settlement from a guy not seeing me in his blindspot.

for what i have in store... this time around will be a little different, i guarantee. culminating my experience with trying to get my son turning some wrenches and learning. track days are definitely an idea.

Vas was right . . . we all somehow make our way back to them because they were and still are amazing cars to own and drive no matter the mileage.

they definitely are something special. a datum point for BMW. when i bought my Golf R, i was debating between that and a 2018 330iT M Sport. i drove the 330iT and while it was fast and looked the business, it was definitely a letdown in driving dynamics and character. the Golf R is no ZHP in terms of character but it certainly is a rival for The Ultimate Daily Driver and i never once regretted not getting the F31 330iT. it is no ZHP.

Ooooooo. I too have done a gravel race and got another one coming up end of the month, and it's pretty wild how pricey bike parts are

yeah... tell me about it. my current gravel/road bike is a 3T Exploro RaceMax with SRAM Force AXS. i built it up myself and it has some cool bits on it.

If I will be selling my touring and it will not go to a person intending to keep, i think the whole car will be parked out. The rust is pretty noticeable at this point. It will be shame to part it out but I do not think it makes sense to restore it the shell.
I am not planing to sell it soon. But, if I do and if it will need to be parted out, I will transfer or save all the cool parts that it has.
Ooooooo. I too have done a gravel race and got another one coming up end of the month, and it's pretty wild how pricey bike parts are! Actually, I'm financially into my bicycle far more than my motorcycle, but that's including the insurance settlement from a guy not seeing me in his blindspot.

If once you get the ZHP be sure to start a thread and don't keep us in the dark on it :roflI knew that you're into cycling, but didn't now that you doing gravel racing. After chatting with Peter about bikes, I went to FB to see how much is a cheap set of wheels cost. I am thinking to have a set of gravel wheels. I think that my Cannondale can clear 32mm tires.
