This one sold on BaT on April 2021 for $ 16,500. Buyer posted on BaT this was a gift for his wife, but she didn’t like it.

only 120 miles added between buying 8 months ago and current selling.....? and seems a little odd that he's now planning on losing money in this hot market which seems impossible - as a buyer he paid $16,500 plus a 5% buyers fee ($16,500 x 5% = $825) and he's also asking less than paid to BaT

something doesn't add up

Well, the buyer lives in Michigan. So the car was shipped from Houston to Michigan and now it’s back to Houston. :scratchinghead

I think it changed hands one more time before the dealer, but I could be wrong. I believe the person who purchased off BAT sold to someone else that was not a dealer and maybe they sold it at a discount since “his wife did not want it.” I thought I remember seeing it up somewhere after BAT.

interesting that the BaT listing which always offers the free CarFax seems to update even after the BaT auction ends. If you click it on BaT, there are updates after the 4/26/21 sale...... this has kicked around a bit since:

05/20/2021 72,015 Texas Inspection Station,Houston, TX Passed emissions inspection
05/21/2021 xxxxxx TX Auto Group,Houston, TX Vehicle offered for sale
10/13/2021 Online Listing Texas Vehicle offered for sale

which made be go look at CarsandBids where I bought my M3 a year a go https://carsandbids.com/auctions/9QQjbQNe/2011-bmw-m3-convertible

They also offer the free CarFax, but the link disappears about 30 days after the auction ends

Now looking back at BaT where I sold my ZHP in June, the CarFax link is gone. So BaT also seems to keep it available .... but not forever

The Carfax in the BaT link is provided by TX Auto Group which is the current seller.

If I understand you, you mean the dealer provided it? When I sold my ZHP, BaT inserted the CarFax, I did not provide them one. It's even listed in the package they sent me as free. Here's what's in their description:

What is BaT's Process?

Now that your 2005 BMW 330Ci ZHP Convertible is accepted, here’s how our process goes:

We gather information for the listing
We may request additional info to assemble your listing and you submit it via our simple system.
We write a straightforward and transparent listing
We assemble the listing based on the photos and information you submit to us. For all qualified vehicles, a free Carfax report is included.
You review the listing
You approve the draft or suggest changes.
Your listing is scheduled
The auction window is set based on our existing live auctions.
Your listing is live
The big day! Your auction is live so potential bidders can evaluate the listing and bid with confidence.

Pete, I think this explains the current Carfax on BaT. They (BaT) posted this link in the ad last year:

https://www.carfax.com/VehicleHistory/p/Report.cfx?partner=BTR_0&vin=WBABW53486PL54297&source=BUP

The link expired after 30 days or so. But now that TX Auto Group is selling the car, they (TX Auto Group) paid for the Carfax report and in some way the link above is active again. If you look at the Carfax report (upper left corner) it says TX Auto Group paid for it.

In the big scheme of things these actions are good for the economy. A couple with excess disposable income buy a car, ship it, insure it, decide to sell it and intermediary parties benefited from those expenditures.
