One-piece rubber boot after MAF

Sorry, I didn't search for previous discussions on this but saw mention of using the M54 X3 (E83) one-piece boot on our cars vs. the two separate boots. Does this really fit/work?

Haven't tried it but a quick search on e46 fanatics shows a lot of people asking about it, and a few people claiming that it does fit just fine.
