Just purchased a 2006 Mystic Blue Ci convertible, auto. Came with General Max RS uhp summer tires. I'm in the pacific northwest and I'm reading you can't use these tires or store them below 40 degrees. If I'm going to do any winter driving (not snow) I'll need an extra set of tires and or wheels. What do you all do or recommend?

I use summer tires in sub zero weather with no issues. If they are modern tires they'll survive no problem. Not sure how bad your winters are though compared to NC.

Nice purchase!
Twice I found a second set of wheels /tires on local Craigslist.

Are the ZHP's 5x120 lug pattern and what size wheels could you use to get thru the winter?

I think you are correct with the 5x120 lugs pattern.

Thinner less wide tires are preferred in the snow.

ZHPs are 5x120 bolt pattern. As for tires I have been using Michelin AS4 tires on my ZHP and love them. I drive my ZHP in the snow and have not had any issues running on these tires.

All E46s have 5x120 bolt pattern. Find some 7x17" wheels from another E46 if you plan to get winter tires & drive during that season. Check FB, CL, your local BMW CCA chapter's classifieds or purchase new wheels with tires from Tire Rack. http://www.bmwstylewheels.com/3

Some UHP summer can crack while being stored at colder temperatures. I store mine in Tire Totes in the basement - heavy black contractor's trash bags will also work.

Good luck!

Thanks, do the wheels need to be from an e46 specifically or would any BMW wheels with the 5x120 bolt pattern work?

You need the correct offset/backspacing so they don't rub on the suspension or fenders! Wheel width will determine what the offset needs to be, so look at that on the BMW wheels in the size you like, even if you go aftermarket.

Always found this site useful when I was shopping around for wheels. addresses size, offset, etc...

Also make sure the centre bore on the wheel is larger than the one on the hub. From what I recall it's 72.6 mm, but double check

If you haven’t found a set, I have a winter set from my ZHP that I could let go of that I do not use as the car doesn’t see snow anymore. Shipping from 46167
