So as expected the cheaper one I got lasted maybe 1-2 years... the cheap thin leather has been loose and annoying for the last few months...

I just tried to order this

https://autunik.com/products/autunik-illuminated-genuine-leather-shift-knob-for-bmw-m3-e30-e36-e39-e46-zhp-with-6-speed-light

but of course it is NOW OOS, cmon :)N

I dont think I will ever get a metal knob because the car gets to be over 140F here in the south, I wouldnt be able to drive it without losing my hand.

Just dont feel like paying $100 for another stock knob, I know to purists that will sound bad, but any other suggestions or out of the box knobs I cant explore and get?

The bmw mini parts store has it for $85.50 shipped with coupon code roundel at checkout.

Stick with the factory zhp shift knob. It's worth it.

I bought the oem ZHP knob in leather. Alcantara is a ridiculous material for a shift knob. IMO.

I have to disagree, I think alcantara + my greasy KFC fingers do wonders for the "patina" of the material

If anyone is interested I have a brand new ZHP shift knob. It has been recovered in lamb leather and has a NLA ///m logo from bmw on top vs the 6spd shift pattern.

Gorgeous -- how much? I'm definitely interested.

Interesting, I didn't realize they made it without a shift pattern

Interesting, I didn't realize they made it without a shift patternBmw also offered one that had a shift pattern with the ///m stripes and shift pattern. Sadly the majority of them are NLA.
