Mine fell out b/c my tupperware is all messed up; I picked out all the part #'s, but then the order got lost and disappeared.
I'll have to reorder, and additionally whatever that sensor is.

As I recall, it’s the ambient air temperature sensor. https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw-ambient-temperature-sensor-uro-65816905133?ads_cmpid=21608260482&ads_adid=164927063021&ads_matchtype=&ads_network=g&ads_creative=715103588145&utm_term=&ads_targetid=pla-2338160550696&utm_campaign=&utm_source=adwords&utm_medium=ppc&ttv=2&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAmfq6BhAsEiwAX1jsZ2cMoR4GdgdqsTKB_7V9 Wo1U0qnNBxgeVKn_qyiZa775KuYQL2xqxxoCtSoQAvD_BwE

That's the temp sensor that goes on the LH side for the HVAC system and temp readout in the gauge cluster. There is also a temp sensor on the RH side for the heated washer nozzles and side view mirror heating. It's a simpler thermo switch that just clicks on and off at a preset temp.

Wonder if the heated washer nozzle was a "Cold Weather Package" option.

That's exactly it. I just got a bunch of trim pieces and that sensor is long gone. No errors or anything. Interesting that they have separate sensors for that, and I'm an idiot for letting it fly off the car as the front underpanel trims slowly disintegrated
