Hey guys!

I haven't been on for a while. Done a lot of travelling, skiing is my sport, andddddd been very busy with work.

Which brings me to my next subject. Myself and Eric who came to the ZHP meet:

for Cars n Coffee are the Owners of FSR Motorsport Creations. Let me first and foremost say we are BMW owners, bigtime BMW fans, and BMW enthusiasts to the core.

Here's what we do:
http://gallery.me.com/ian.saingarm/100101/IMG_1989/web.jpg?ver=13043937380001
Old hot rods like these
http://gallery.me.com/ian.saingarm/100101/IMG_1922/web.jpg?ver=13043937220001
Everything you can imagine to Supras, got lots of those
http://gallery.me.com/ian.saingarm/100101/IMG_1992/web.jpg?ver=13043937500001
And just generally lots of big builds for road course, drag, street, etc.

We own a brand new 4wd Dynojet dual eddy brake linx dyno. We tune on it all day, every day.

Which brings me to my next point.

I drive this:

Which I just love to death. It is an 04 with 124k miles on it, and I bought it with the intention to fix every little thing back to 100% perfect, daily drive it, do some light tracking, and just enjoy the heck out of it.

Well, we've recently got some pretty good industry options that make it essentially necessary to purchase an 07-09 335i. I'll let you guys use your imagination, but it would be stupid for us not to. And because of that, my car would have to go. Which I'm really not liking. I like the outside of the ZHP about as much as the 335 coupe, but I like the inside of the E46 wayyyyyy more. I have black leather with that cube trim, nav, premium package, cold weather, even that rear sunshade. I feel like a million bucks in this car. The materials are better, and the interior of the car is in like 9.8/10 condition.

So basically I'm just ranting. I just did new tires, rotors, the ENTIRE cooling system with all OEM bmw parts, valve cvr gasket, plugs, filters, and was going to respray the front/rear bumpers and PDR some stuff on the car. Honestly, this car with themileage drives better than the 335s with half, just tighter. And slower, which I don't care one bit about because I ride my bike to work and have 10,000 horsepower in my shop. Ehhhhhhhhhhhhh. You guys have got to be one of the coolest groups of owners I've come around. I see them all, the subie guys, the M3 guys, the Supra guys, the corvette guys, and man, I gotta say, what a down to earth group Marcus has got together here. So I'll still be around even if I sell the car. Which like I said, I'm really in limbo about.

Thanks for reading this purposeless thread!

Of course, I'm not a forum sponsor and I want to make sure this doesn't come off like an add. We aren't taking any new customers and I don't think any of you guys would have any use for us anyway. I just want to be respectful to the forum sponsors who make this page available for all of us!

I see it all now, very cool stuff. If I lived near I would be hanging out there just watching all of the cool stuff and bugging people about their cars.

Yeah man, I'm very lucky to do what I do. In fact, that guy who owns that turbo IS300 (which was 850+ horsepower) is sending us his lambo to twin turbo. What the heck? Who does that?

Some people have it really good, not hatin just sayin, hope its been hard work that got them there but can't hate coming from money either. I just hope the dude twinn turbo-ing the lambo isn't living in an apartment and check to check.

Ian, no worries. I didn't think you were selling anything.

Marcus,

Being a 335 owner and a ZHP owner, am I crazy or is the ZHP just nicer inside? The ride/handling balance of both cars is excellent.

Stick around! Just because you won't have a ZHP anymore doesn't mean you have to leave us! :)

Ian, the ZHP is a nicer car in almost all aspects. Sure, the 335 is faster and more powerful but the ZHP is the better car to me.

By the way, I no longer have the 335. BMW bought it back a couple of weeks ago (lemon).

Of course! I'm not even sure I'm going to sell it, I honest to God don't want to. I love the way this car drives, I really think it is the pinnacle of non-m 3 series balance. If I can figure out a way for the shop to get an R and D 335, that would be the best!

Marcus, that's funny, I guess enough HPFPs failed huh?

Thanks for showing off your ZHP and the wicked rides at your work. And if you sell the ZHP, I'm a testament that you don't have to have one to still feel welcomed here.

That '63 Impala and (I think) '68 fastback are making my mouth water.

Yep. That's exactly why. I was on my third.

Damn your car looks sweet too! That's a 67 fastback, good eye. We are doing a 427 with a blower and installing an AEM EMS in it.

Marcus, one thing we have coming are aftermarket, higher quality HPFP's. You know these BMW's drive so amazing in order to have all of us willing to deal with some of their issues haha!

That's said, my ZHP has never had a single issue! And it is at 124k! Of course, the first thing I did with it, and with every car is do every maintenance item immediately with dealer parts and shockingly, cars seem to last much longer that way haha.

I love the Alpine White with painted body moldings... I just turned over 118k on the way to work this morning, and I'm in the same boat as you maintenance-wise. My car is rock-solid and runs "the berries".

Definitely not a pointless thread! This place is about the people, and your story adds depth to some of the people here. Thanks for that.

My name is Marc, my sister calls me Marcus, and my aunt calls me Marcus Aurelius, so I'll respond to this query: You are not crazy. The E46 interior blends the driver-centered tradition of the E30 with newer, smoother design. The E90+ interiors have left a lot to be desired to people who prefer the E30/E46 (and even the E39). It's hard to explain; I just can't get used to the E90 interior. I don't feel at home in it.

Hopefully the F30 3er will address this. The current 1 series interior works for me. Could your industry deal get you a 1 M Coupe???? Or a 135????

I like the write up and all of the awesome pics. I hope you don't have to part with your ZHP. Even if you do, you are still welcome.

Yep. That's exactly why. I was on my third.

That's unusual that they bought it back under only 3 replacements. I could've sworn it was a higher number of times it has to get replaced before being bought back.

Oh well.

January 1, 2011, the law changed here in California. It only required two failures if the part in question could cause great bodily harm if it failed.

A HPFP failure on the freeway results in the loss of power. Very easy to get hit from behind as your vehicle is losing power. It was a slam dunk case. My case was settled in less than a week (my car was transferred back to BMW in less than four weeks).

Given the law, there is nothing unusual about getting a car lemoned after two HPFP failures. It pays to stay current on legal changes.

Ah ok, that's a California change. I think it's the same still here in CT...
Haven't really looked into it because I don't have to worry about warranty stuff. :)

Here is a good primer for anyone interested in California's lemon law: MOTOR VEHICLE WARRANTY AND LEMON LAW (http://ag.ca.gov/consumers/general/lemon.php)

From part B: "What is considered a reasonable number of repair attempts will depend on the circumstances including the seriousness of the defect. For example, one or two repair attempts may be considered reasonable for serious safety defects such as brake failure, depending on the exact situation."

Failure of the HPFP could be seen as a serious safety defect. Very easy to see how someone could get hurt if the HPFP fails at the wrong time and wrong place.

Good info for us to know! Only by way of such an excellent drive quality does BMW get away with what it does.
