My 2004 330 Ci ZHP has Alcantra seats with no lumbar support.

My questions:

1. Can I add OEM adjustable lumbar support?
2. Is the OEM lumbar support motorized or inflatable?
3. Is it easier to buy a used seat with lumbar to replace existing
seat or modify existing seat?
4. Are the seats in ZHPs "sport seats"? If not, what are they called?
5. Is there any difference in the seat wiring harness between
lumbar/non lumbar seats?

And - last but not least:

6. I hate the metal support bars for the side bolsters they cut into
my thighs and make any trip more than a half hour literally a pain -
any suggestions? (on my E36 M3, I pulled off the upholstery and
cut out the bars out with a hacksaw)

I can answer number four. Yes. We have the sport seats in the ZHP.

Thank you, gentlemen - I added manually inflatable lumbar support to my E36 M3

Anyone have a ratty D/S lumbar seat for sale?

Yes, it's easier to buy a used seat, but certainly not cheaper. I think you can get all the parts for between $100-200, and you definitely will NOT find a matching sport seat with lumbar for anywhere near that much.

I'm going to do the retrofit in the near future, as my back is already killing me on long trips. I will do a writeup when I do it.

Thanks az3579

looking forward to your install and write up... I will research as well. Right now, I am contemplating a manually inflated lumbar bladder.

My write up will be much, much later. That is a "non-priority" mod, meaning it'll most likely be done sometime during the summer.

1. Weight savings.

2. I need the passenger side panel from it.

Where are you guys seeing the lumbar retrofit kit is still available? This is what I come up with....

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=EV53&mospid=47725&btnr=52_2848&hg=52&fg=95

ENDED :dunno

EDIT: ok.....never mind. I see it all listed now in the link Dane posted. I wonder why they don't offer the kit anymore? Is it for sure that just ordering those parts will work? Nothing else needed?

Just remembered I had this diy saved...

Barry,
I was referring to buying all the required parts individually. I have a link of it saved somewhere that has the DIY and the part #'s required that I will be using.
