I'm having a hard time deciding on what I should do here. I know that I need to do a cooling system rebuild. I'm about two mouse clicks from finalizing the purchase from ECS. My issue is that I won't have the time to do the job until September. Next weekend, I start my part-time job that takes up any day, and I mean all day, that I'm not working for my full-time job. About the only days I have off this summer are June 11th, you can guess what I'm doing with that day, and July 4th.

I currently have enough money saved to buy the stage 1 rebuild kit from ECS or, I could use that money to buy a cold air intake from Racing Dynamics. What I'm thinking is that by the time summer is over, I will have enough money saved to buy the cooling kit and I'll also have the time to install it. But, right now, I can buy the CAI, install that in a few minutes, and possible add a little gas mileage (my other job involves a lot of driving).

What do you guys think? Who is going to be a good voice of reason here?

What's your mileage right now?

I would go with the cai only because the cooling system would just be laying around gathering dust until you install it

I'm at 132,xxx. I know I need to do the cooling system but, like previously posted, I won't have the time.

Whoa. Are you on the original cooling system with that mileage?

If you don't have time, you don't have time- I'd get the CAI then and do the cooling system the first chance you get after the summer.

I believe it to be the original. I don't have any record of it being worked on. I'm gonna wait for a few more opinions before I pull the trigger.

If you don't have time for the install now....I don't see the point in buying it.

Say you buy the intake.....then in a month cooling system fails. Will you have money to fix it then?

What I would do is buy the kit and have a mechanic install all of it for you. Don't have the time? Have someone else do it on a day that you are working your full time, or whichever job doesn't require the car. If both require the car, you're gonna have to rent a car 'till it's fixed, unless you don't mind driving around in your car for your job and then breaking down, subsequently leaving you stranded and potentially in hot water depending on what your job is. Doesn't look too good when you call your boss saying your car broke down in the middle of a job, and if it's time-sensitive, fuhgeddaboutit.

He "saved" for the kit. May not have flow to pay an indy.

Yeah, I would love to be able to drop it off at a mechanic but that cost extra $$ that I don't have. I'm going to order the kit. If anything should happen, I'll have the stuff to fix it. A CAI can wait a few more months.

Ordered the stage 1 refresher kit along with a bottle of Redline Water Wetter and a pair of clear side markers (they were on sale for $2.95. How could I say no?).

LOL......I think you made the correct choice.

Problem is, he doesn't have much of a choice. Either he "gets it done", or he risks it blowing up in his face during work. He might be fine though till the end of summer though...

Static,
Can't you take a day off to do it? If not, I guess we'll find out if you cooling system stays intact. lol

I'm going to try to get it done on July 4th. It's my only other day off this summer. I'll get up early and roll around in my gravel drive way to accomplish this task.

Ouch; sounds painful. Good luck with whatever happens.
