New here. Just bought a ZHP a couple days ago, it's my first BMW. So far I really like it, it needs a few things repaired but otherwise it's in very good condition. I look forward to learning from all you guys.

Great car. Any plans to put the stock 135 wheels on it? Or it will stay as is? Looks great regardless.

Wash, you're looking at the car when it was at the dealer. The dealer put all of those on. Price, details, and other promotional items.

I figured you were looking at the pictures on a cell phone, which made it difficult to tell where the car was located.

Thanks guys. My plans are pretty basic at this point. The car needs a few minor cosmetic and mechanical issues addressed, once I get passed that I'll probably start to tinker with it. The HP is fairly meager in stock trim, so I forsee HP mods at some point.
Marcus, At this point I have no plans of changing the wheels. Why do you ask?

Just curious to see if you were going to bring the car back to stock. I know you bought the car with the aftermarket wheels. One of the things that makes the ZHP stand out is the stock wheels (IMO).

I know very little about BMW's besides what I've learned in the last day or so on google and a couple enthusiast forums. I'll have to google an image of the stock wheels, I don't know what they look like. The current wheels are 20", they look great but they're a bit large and heavy.

One of my main goals right now is to find the best way to hook up my iPod to the factory system. I've done some research and found that there are a couple options but I'm having a hard time determining which is best.
I searched back throught this forum and e46 fanatics and found some great tips and DIY's. I do all my own work. I ordered a Bentley service manual, I downloaded the owner's manual (the car did not have one) and I've already fixed a few small common issues thanks to all the information on these boards.

Hello and welcome!
Glad to hear we have another wrench turner in the crowd. If you have time, feel free to jump in and create threads on your mods, upgrades, or fixes.
Feel free to start a thread in the ICE (integrated car electronics) subforum and ask about the connecting your ipod. I don't have this done yet. I've seen threads on the factory retrofit and the DICE kit. Some kits allow for control of the ipod and others do not. We have a few of these threads here and there are some on E46fanatics and some on bimmerforums. Most guys that have done the install can walk you thru it and tell you what and where they found it.
johnrando

I use the DICE kit and it works fine with my steering controls. I've heard mixed reviews about DICE reliability but mine works fine. Once in awhile I have to reboot it but that's no big deal. Others choose USA-Spec and like that. John

You are welcome. We have an active forum here. From day one, we have made sure that we respond, though, with professionalism and courtesy. We're all sick of those other forums, where members abuse each other (and forum administrators do nothing about it).
We pride ourselves on being helpful, friendly, and professional. If those are the attributes you appreciate, you've come to the right place, pal.
We're glad you joined.

I think replacing the grill and debadging is a pretty good start. I've browsed the forums and websites such as khoalty and I haven't really found anything else. I like to keep it clean.

I agree. Good start. I left the badge on mine. I did replace the grill -- though I am getting ready to replace it again with a gloss black grill (that matches our B pillar gloss black).

First of all, welcome the the Family. Now, I have the exact same car as you and I will say that debadging and blacking out the grills looks saweet! Second, if you are anal about fixing things like me, I would say look into a vanos seal/repair kit. If it ain't noisy now, it will be eventually. As for the actual seals, it has been documented by Beisan that the seals only last for 20-30k miles. After that, enjoy power modding! Look at my sig for ideas. Nice looking car!

Well guys, I've made a lot of progress so far. Replaced all my filters, removed the CDV, rebuilt the vanos, installed a USA-Spec iPod adapter, and made several cosmetic upgrades/fixes. The only thing left is to address my suspension.
Thanks for all the help and info.
PS: I stopped by another site to get additional input on my bottoming-out issue and instead of the guys helping me they chastised me for the wheels that are on my car (which were on it when I bought it). I'm glad I joined this site.
