Well this would be my first post. I have yet to own my car for a whole month, but I love it so far. I think I would fall under the category of getting something that wasn't fully understood by the seller, I really didn't know what I had until I found this site and am still learning.

06 330Ci
33,000 miles
every dealer option
sparkling graphite
very clean inside and out
clean carfax and most maintenance records
Tyler, Texas
$18,500

I would be the 3rd owner, the original was a very wealthy older man. I purchased it from an employee of his company who bought it after he died, a woman who complained about difficulty getting in and out of it and the maintenance costs. Neither of which discouraged my buying it. Thank the Car Gods!

Welcome to the site WZ..

2006 BMW 330Ci ZHP, Sparkling Graphite, 6MT, Xeons, Performance Package, Black Leather ( NO Navi )
Purchase Date: 08/2009
Purchase Price: $25,200 (Traded my 2002 MB S500)
Mileage @ Purchase: 31,400
Purchase Location/Dealer: Autobahn, Brighton Mass.

Car was (and still is) immaculate when I purchased it, had minor scratch on front bumper. I am the second owner and purchased the extended warranty via BMW.
The only mechnical issue I had with the car was the starter, which was replaced and covered under my warranty.

Mods added so far: UUC TSE Exhaust, AFE Intake, Aspherical Mirrors.

Year: 2004 (build 11/03)
Purchaed: 9/2008
Paid: $21,950
Miles at purchase: 33,642 (now has 58k)
Sedan, titanuim silver, spotless, CPO, xenons, leather, HK
Purchased in: Arlington, VA (just outside of DC -- added a few $$)
Had 4 brand new Michelin Pilot Sports on it (added more $$$)

I probably did not get a rock-bottom price, but I wanted the car and the miles were low (under 7k per year).

Actually, in 2008, that was a good price (on the east coast) for that car -- at that mileage. Looks good to me.

I am the only one that has my car when you factor in the DDMTuning front license plate bracket and custom trim.

Actually though....employing the filter...I was surprised there are only 6, 2004, Sedan, Imola, Alcantara ZHP's in the registry. Prolly coupes...idk

+1 for the '04 Imolarot Sedans! Now, how many other IR over Natural Brown interior brothers are here amongst us? Mine is a 6MT/silvercube incidentally.

Closest I've seen to that was a convertible for sale locally about 2 yrs ago but it was an automatic.

Anyone know what became of the 14k-mile Mystic/Alcantara manual sedan for sale in Seattle back in March...?

You are correct, unless someone out there has an Individual ZHP in that color combo, it was otherwise only offered on the M3.

Looked for a blue vert either E36 M3 or ZHP ... for 8 months then...Craigslist had it:

Salvage Car Purchased 4/20/11 Sacramento after hood, bumper, headlight, quarter panel were fixed by owner.

Monaco Blue, Tan, Vert, Blue Top, 6speed, 26K miles
$13,200 cash
CPO warrantee, needs nothing
Nav, Cold weather, Clean interior, Harmon Kardon,

Added BMW intake and Carbon Fiber Strut Brace 5/14/11

Love the car!

Wife's ZHP has Dinan Intake and Strut brace. Hers sounds better, lower, deeper.
(Shall have to take her Dinan parts and put them in mine at night!)

Steal :shifty

hmmm, idk

Salvage Car Purchased 4/20/11 Sacramento after hood, bumper, headlight, quarter panel were fixed by owner.

I would pay 1.5k more for a clean title unmolested car. Unless the car was sent to a very expensive and reputable body shop and they can show proof it was done there. I've seen way to many patch jobs on cars with salvage title enough to make me not even think twice about it.

2004 330ci ZHP
6MT
Leather seats
73k miles

Now the the thing here is the previous owner had a parking lot bump and took something like $500 deductable so the title says salvage but only the bumper got scraped. So I took it to a mechanic to make sure there was no actuall damage to the frame anywhere. Got the thumbs up.

Paid $13k :D

Heres the story of what I got and what I paid.

2004 330i ZHP
1 Owner
72k miles (was advertised at 75k, not sure why)
All service done at Assael BMW in Monrovia, CA.
All records printed from the dealer and mailed to me prior to the sale.
Imola/Black Leather/Silver Cube
No nav, no winter pkg
Clean Autocheck, Carfax, and PPI (done at Assael BMW)

Negatives:
Lots of curb rash on the wheels
Wear on alcantara steering wheel and shifter (expected)
2 very small door dings
New tires (Bridgestone Potenza RunFlats - bummer)
Missing 1 master key

Positives:
Not tracked
New tires
All original - No mods.
All scheduled maintenance completed (Inspection 1 and 2) as well as typical failure points replaced (CABS, water pump, hoses, belts, drivers side front window regulator, brake pads/rotors on front) as indicated on provided service records.
New clutch at 68k miles
California car, always garaged.
Original window stickers, purchase invoice, manuals, BMW fitted car cover with storage bag, BMW duffle bag, and handful of other misc BMW stuff that came from the dealer when the car was purchased.
Included wallet key and valet key.
Seller was professional and compliant.

Paid $14,500.

I really did my homework on this car, and the seller was more than compliant with all my requests (10 billion photos, all service records from the dealer, etc). He was very sad to see his car go, but was ready to move on to a different one. He was great with pictures and video, and documented the whole loading process as the car was being loaded, strapped down, etc. I couldn't have asked for better and more enthusiastic seller.

Receiving the car tonight!

Thanks, Dane. The wheels should be done tomorrow (great local guy) and I have already contacted a great freelance painter I've used in the past. Hopefully I can get the valence (and maybe the entire hood) freshened-up in the next couple of weeks. I have the cowl piece, fog lights and clear signal bits coming by the end of the week, too. It is a great car already, and I'll keep on improving it. :)

I was looking at a few different cars at the time but the only modern BMW I wanted was a ZHP (I was looking at a 2002 also but that never happened). At the time I probably looked at about 10 but this one was by far in the best shape/lowest miles of any that I had seen. I wasn't really looking for red at the time but now that I've been driving it for 3 years I think its the greatest shade of red I've seen on a car in a long time. No mods yet, I'm probably only gonna do cosmetic things right now (tint windows, possible lip spoiler). I've been known to spend too much so I'm staying away from the engine. Love the car and can't believe I was even looking at other cars at the time.

The Not so good: missing fog light cover, ugly wheels with wrong offset, lots of rock chips on bumper and hood (previous re-spray), worn cowl piece under the wipers, aftermarket O2 sensors causing SES light, suspension could use an overhaul, a few small dents and scratches, missing hardware on front bumper, missing oil change door, needs FCABs!, needs rear differential bushing replaced, one backup sensor is on the fritz, radio does not receive radio signal (aftermarket radio), exhaust leak at gaskets.
To date Mileage: 105,000
The Good: 3,000 miles on new clutch at purchase, seller was in a pinch and didn't really know what he had!
Current mods: Came with K&N Intake and exhaust.
Future mods: Lowering Springs, camber controls, LSD, auto head lights, rain sensing wipers, strut bars, "CoolantSnitch" , repaint the front bumper and hood...
My wife is giving me the evil eye, so I guess that's all I'm writing for now!

Bought it for this price knowing it needed belts, oil seperator and front seats were slightly faded. Almost all maintenance has been caught up minus oil seperator. It came with the original window sticker and all previous owners lived locally.

Having spent a lot more money on cars before (new M3 vert, New SC430), I have to admit I am very happy with this purchase. Just a great car so far. Few minor issues, but it has the qualities I enjoyed about the M3 without the downsides and it feels very solid. I love the color combo and I very much admire the M body kit which looks better than the M IMO. Exhaust noise is beautiful.

I may drive this car till the wheels fall off of it or me, probably me.

The exterior is in very good condition with a very few small paint chips on the front of hood otherwise paint is near perfect. Interior is 9/10. The only thing that requires immediate attention is CAB replacement.

2004 330i ZHP sedan bought in April, 2010 with 84k miles. Car was originally purchased at BMW of Beverly Hills, a girl from Virginia bought it and had it shipped to where she lived. She drove it from 30k miles to 84k. Had a clean car fax (no accidents) although it had dings in the hood and rear fender from bad parking.

I paid $14k for it. Cost me $1k to have the body work fixed

Not sure if anyone has seen one of these, but if you know someone at a BMW dealer, they can print one of these on every BMW by VIN. I had this report run with the Car Fax before buying (and the PPI). Verifies service history and option packages etc.

UUC Front & Rear Sway Bars

I was lucky to find my perfect target early in my search, the only issue being I'm in Phoenix, and the car was in Miami. But my best pal lives up the road in Ft Lauderdale, so he did a VERY thorough pre-purchase inspection, and once the decision was made to buy the car, was the intermediary and picked up the car and kept it at his house until I could arrange for transport. Paid what I feel is a fair price for a car in its condition and with its clean history. It's on the truck now, should arrive here tomorrow or Monday. :)

I shopped for two years after that and I guess I just didn't see the good deals! Still love the car. Looking at a clutch and coil overs :fingerscrossed next.

KevinC, you have my twin, though yours definitely much cleaner. Mine:
2005 330ci, 75k, tiag/black leather, black cube, xenons, bluetooth
$14.7k

I got the exact car I wanted--on paper. Car looks great from 10 feet. On closer inspection, the rear bumper has some scuffs, front bumper and hood should be resprayed, wheels have a little curbage. Carfax shows 2 owners, 1 accident. I say exterior is 7/10 and interior is 8/10. I wish I had had a little more patience in my search, but I'm looking forward to taking care of her much better than the previous owners!

At this age and mileage, it's best to pay a bit more but get a car that's in really good shape in order to have a longer life and not spend too much on repairs.

Price: $15,788

Purchased from a used car dealer

It is my wife's car, but she lets me drive it if I'm nice to her. Purchased to replace a 2003 330iA Sport Package car that got totaled when I was accordioned in stopped traffic. Got a good deal on the insurance settlement, so financially it was almost a $ for $ swap. Needs a little work, but an extended warranty (not included in price above) will cover most of it.

2005 silbergrau 330Ci ZHP auto
Purchase date: I think it was May of this year.
Location: Brecht BMW (Escondido)
Price: $15,000 even
Owners: 2 previous. I am the third owner.
Mileage: Just under 72,000

There was a nice story behind this purchase. The lady I bought it from works at Brecht BMW and had a lien on the car but was trying to sell it because her husband had back problems and could not take the bumpy ride anymore (compared to say, a 5-series). So instead they bought themselves an E60 525i, or was it a 528i? Anyways, it wasn't due to maintenance issues or anything.

She bought it from the original owner for her private use. She said he went to the dealership that she worked at to have all the services done so she knew the condition and that was why she bought it for herself.

Clean title. 2 owner car. Imola Red/Black Alcantara. 6spd. CW Package. Silver Cube Trim. Xenons. Perforated leather steering wheel. A few mods. (Sways, M3 fuel baffle, OZ Wheels, CDV delete, Stainless Steel Brake lines) Tons of receipts. Maintenance seems to be done appropriately. Good tire tread.

Condition: Needs some cosmetic work. Driver seat needs to be recovered. (Seat Tear in the bolster) Staining on the passenger seat, shift boot and ebrake boot. Lots of rock chips. Scraped up bottom to the front bumper. A few scratches in the paint. Wheels have some minor chips and rash. Will probably need new belts, pulleys, guibo, and rear differential bushing. Very little rust underneath. No Vanos Rattle

Drives great though! I plan on bringing the condition back up.

why did the ZHP package cost only $3600 for verts but $3900 for sedans/coupes? are the verts missing something from the package?

Bimmernut2
12-20-2012, 11:25 AM
That's a good question. Could it be something changed from introduction to the '05-'06 model year? I did determine that my convertible did NOT come with the lower differential ration, but the standard 3.38 (not the 3.64) as noted in the FAQ. Mine came with run flats & dash flat tire indicator, but nothing was listed on the sticker about this. Let me know if you find out why.

BRGcoopahS
12-20-2012, 01:09 PM
I believe that's because yours is auto. All manual coupes and verts should have the lower gearing. Actually I learned that all 330 coupes (non zhp's) have the lower gearing. It's the non zhp sedans that have the higher gearing.

I also don't know why it's cheaper for the vert. Maybe because leather was standard instead of alcantara?

I just compared two window stickers in this thread, 1 vert, 1 non vert. The only difference listed under the Performance Package was "cloth/alcantara upholstery", which the non vert had.

But John, look at the top of the sticker of the 'other one'. It had $1450 added for "leather seats". I know it had the 'alcantara' called out. IF it was more for the cloth on the 'PP', you'd think they would discount the leather, may they did. Also, the Xenon lights were $100 more in '05 than the '03. Still wondering.

johnrando
12-20-2012, 03:26 PM
No idea. I was just hazarding a guess to answer the question as to if there were differences between vert/non-vert ZHP packages, and that was the only difference listed on those 2 window stickers. Too small a sample size.

webster
12-20-2012, 04:02 PM
i wonder if the difference is simply due to the fact that the MSRP for verts was higher in the first place so they charged less for the perf. pkg?

MrMaico
12-22-2012, 01:47 PM
Is it possibly just due to the fact that there isn't those 2 pieces of Shadowline trim around the windows on the verts like the coupes have? List price difference between the non-ZHP chrome and the Shadowline is about $300 for the 2 pieces. Just a guess though.

Well I recently got my car for $9,750 for a 2003 with no navigation, performance package, cold weather, sports package and with 107k miles. Given that it had already had 5 owners which majority were from Massachusetts and the PO was from Pennsylvania. He had under belly pans and a few other stuff on the side which he never had the chance to put on. After driving it for a few months now there hasn't been anything major that I need to do on the car as of yet. Getting ready to do a whole tune up this weekend and will everyone updated on how things look from my end.

When I purchased my ZHP almost two years ago, I paid $11,000 with 105k on the odometer. I was looking for a project car and my ZHP had the interior I desired (alcantara w/ silver cube interior trim).

Looking at my ZHP, I knew I had a project ahead of me so I purchased it. Later on a mechanic told me that my ZHP was happy I found and rescued it...;)

Looking back at my ZHP after almost two years of ownership, I can see why the mechanic told me that...

Today I enjoy driving my ZHP because of all the performance enhancements I have done to it. Of course I have 'some' friends to blame for some of the performance enhancements, but all of them have added to a car I feel should have come out of the factory...it is so much fun to drive now...:biggrin

Purchased my two owner 2004 Imola with black leather sedan, 6MT, ZHP, ZCW, Xenon (albeit burned bowls) with 64K miles, all services up to date for $16,000. The car was listed at $17,000. Car needed detail, respray of front spoiler and new headlight bowls. Already had new brakes, control arm bushings, windshield and a replaced alcantara steering wheel under CPO warranty. Tires were good for another season until a road hazard damaged side wall motivated the installation of a new set. It now looks and drives like it was built yesterday.

I purchased my 2-owner 2004 Orient Blue Metallic Coupe with black leather, 6MT in Dec 2012 in Newport, RI. First owner bought it in MD; 2nd owner purchased it in N. VA and took it to RI. The car had 27,200 miles and was in great shape; it needed nothing done to it. All maintenance since 2006 was done at BMW of Newport. Dealer asking price was $23,995; I paid $21K; probably too much...a lot more than KBB value, but that will be the least of my worries in 2044 when I am still driving around in it.

Thanks. I like to think so too. The owner was really nice. He was a driving instructor for some of the bmw clubs. I hope to see him again sometime.

I would say: 16-18k. I realize that's a wide range, but take the upper range as being close to "immaculate." Ask me a year ago and I would've told you 18-20k. I see you're in TX though. BMW's are on the expensive side in Seattle.

The AT also holds back resale. Plenty of black cars in TX tho. Including black on black. My other cars are white and it does make a big difference on the rare occasion that I am forced to park in the sun. Even with tinted windows and a fitted windshield screen/reflector, the Sapphire Black really heats up. The type of window tint film also makes a big difference. I need to re-do the tint on the E30 and will try ceramic this time around.

Even on the mild side hot weather we have here in San Diego, a mystique blue metallic would be close to a sapphire black. Even though they are ceramic tinted, they really do pick up the heat. Another reason why I would always Noah cover my ZHP everytime she is in the driveway. Garage is being used by the garage queen and the E39.

Get ready for Beast coast pricing:

Purchase Location: Bavarian Select Auto, Mechanicsburg, PA
Build Date: 08/2005
Purchase Date: November 18, 2010
Price: $22,000

45,000 miles, alcantara, silver cube, leather///M steering wheel, nav, cold weather package, xenons, HK sound, spotless in and out (no dents, dings, or scratches) bottom of front bumper does need clear coat.
CPO Warranty until September 2011.

Sticker was $24,000. I definitely paid a lot, but at the end of the day it was the exact car I wanted and I was willing to take it in the shorts a little to get it.

Almost three years ago now.

Considering that she's been mechanically perfect (the big important stuff anyway), is still ding, dent, and scratch free, and that I got a new sunroof and vanos under CPO, I think it was worth the premium I paid.

At the same time, I'm definitely envious of the some of the killer deals some of you have worked out on great cars.

Original Location: San Francisco

My Purchase Date: Dec 2008
Price: $26,500

I was looking at a few different cars at the time but the only modern BMW I wanted was a ZHP (I was looking at a 2002 also but that never happened). At the time I probably looked at about 10 but this one was by far in the best shape/lowest miles of any that I had seen. I wasn't really looking for red at the time but now that I've been driving it for 3 years I think its the greatest shade of red I've seen on a car in a long time. No mods yet, I'm probably only gonna do cosmetic things right now (tint windows, possible lip spoiler). I've been known to spend too much so I'm staying away from the engine. Love the car and can't believe I was even looking at other cars at the time.

what it looked like in 08:

So....although I spent the day piddling with it all day (swapped the shift knob/boot from stock to a new F10 M5 knob/boot (backlit), cleaning coffee gunk from the cupholder area and the cracks of the console pieces, vacuuming it out thoroughly, washing it, scrubbing the wheels (that have more curb rash than I'd like)....I didn't grab a single photo in the process. So I went outside just now and snapped a few.

Still have lots of work to do....the immediate short list includes: front control arm bushings are shot...want to drain/flush all fluids one by one....swap out the worn out alcantera steering wheel for a leather wheel that a guy I know has, new floor mats, and a new leather e-brake boot.

BTW, if anyone has any suggestions on floor mats, I'd appreciate it...right now I thinking I'll just go with the factory carpet mats.

I got mine last year for $12k. It had 78k miles, 1 owner car, and was never driven in the winter (a rare find here in NH). Maintenance records were excellent since the car was bought new, and the seller was a fellow enthusiast, so I knew the car had been well cared for.

Picked mine up earlier this week 1/14/2014. Production Date 04/2003 114,500mi Jet Black on Black Leather w/ Black Cube. 6spd MT on Style 135's. Bought it in "The OC". Carfax showed all maintenance records from the beginning, all through BMW stealerships. PO was the second owner but both had liens.
Needs some work but the PO listed at $7,500 and gave me 10% discount based on my findings. Power Steering Hose leak, Radio volume button doesn't turn off radio, center switch for rear window broke off (have to use my little finger), Alcantara Steering wheel missing Alcantara, FCAB, occasional plume of smoke coming from Firewall (Valve Gasket seal?), erratic power delivery under load (MAF appears to have some discoloration that wouldn't come off with cleaner), front bumper has electrical tape on the very bottom to disguise a crack (I didn't notice it, maybe nobody else does either?) and a slight grind when shifting into second (may just be gremlins).

He sent an actual picture while we were on the phone and I said yes and sent a wire transfer with in an hour. When I picked the car up 4 days later the owner of dealership filled me in on the details. He said if I didn't want it he would be happy to return my money. No chance!
