I have been a BimmerForums member for 5 years and a recent thread pointed me to the ZHP Mafia. Great site! My daily driver is a '99 M3 which I have owned for almost 5 years (my "toy" is a '74 Pantera). It's TiAg with Black Vaders and tastefully modded. It's a wonderful car, but I am looking to get into something newer and am considering an E46. Based upon what I have read, the ZHP is "nearly an M3". I worked for Dinan for a short stint and am no stranger to "street beasts"- my daily driver was an '06 Dinan S3 M3. But with a 56 mile round-trip commute (all highway), I think the ZHP would be a better fit. I am in the "looking mode" and will likely NOT unload the
M3 before next spring, unless the right offer comes along. Would rather have stock or near-stock ZHP with 65-75K miles since I plan on keeping it a few years.Based upon what I've seen out there, $15-$16.5 seems to be about right. Must be manual coupe, but would consider a sedan. No black, white, or silver. Input would be appreciated!

As much as I love the ZHP, I wouldn't call the ZHP "nearly an M3." But short of an M, the ZHP is the best thing going in E46 land. It's a wonderful car.

It's a great all-around driver. It's not raw. It's refined. It's not fast -- but it's fast enough. It may not handle as well on the track (though some say it does) but it is plenty good on the streets.

You could do a lot worse than a ZHP.

Welcome to the forum, Swen. Glad to have you.

Welcome!! Which part of NJ may I ask?

Please post pics of your m!

FYI - though I am also on a leisurely look for a stock zhp, I came across a splendid 98 e36 m in Pennsylvania that had 85k miles. Was tempted but the offer price of $12k was a bit steep IMO. Curious to know if you have driven a e46 M and what you thought of it vs. your car. Thanks!

For those of you who asked for pictures of my TiAg E36 Dinan M3, here's my PhotoBucket link. Not sure how to insert pictures here without a URL.

BTW, I'm not a huge fan of FRONT license plates, but here in NJ, the HEAT busts ball$ for not having one. I didn't want to ruin my Euro front bumper by drilling it.
