I found this locally and close enough. I am interested on this and will require a PPI. However, I would like to have everybody's input on this. Aside from PPI, a Carfax supplied by seller. But a 2005 with this high miles and a unkown previous accident, would that be a deal breaker? Please chime in before I will continue to pursue this. I would really appreciate it if you do. BTW, I like the color and it is a 6 MT, and the price.

Can't say much about price or high miles or the impact of an "unknown accident", but the car in those photos looks more like Mystic Blue or Topaz Blue (or something else).

Mystic: http://www.peterphillips.net/forumimages/bmw/SierraPassesTour2004/PA040530.jpg
Topaz: http://www.dtmpower.net/forum/attachments/showroom/22343d1055392168-pics-topaz-blue-e46-coupe-wanted-bmw-tommy-s-e46-1.jpg
Steel: http://users.edpnet.be/kiara/Oliver/kleinbeemi5.JPG

If you like the color in the photos, then who cares what it's called. But if you're looking for the Steel Blue Metallic color in particular, this might not be the one for you. Also, I assume you noticed this already, but lots of other things are wrong with the listing: the wheels are 18" not 17", the car is a manual, not a "6 speed sequential semi-manual", etc., etc.

I was going to say...Steel blue is much lighter in color. PPI is essential with those milage, need to find out about the cooling system and suspension for starters.

A lot of those dealers probably do not know what they are talking about anyways. I have commenced to contact the dealer and have inquired a couple of questions concerning PPI. Menifee is approx. 60-70 miles north. I would like to have my own mechanic do the PPI. However, not all dealers are willing to release their cars so far from their area. I might end up have to locate a BMW indie close by. Any ideas how to locate a very good indie? Menifee, also known as Sun City, is like Timbuktuu. The closest city to Menifee is Murrietta or Temecula. Lots of unknowns at this point. Thanks.

Lawrence, contact GSEN820. He may have a line on a BMW tech who doesn't live that far from Menifee.

Went to see car this morning. Sale pending...PPI. To be done tomorrow. If PPI finds any big problem on engine or transmission, the sale falls through.

Lawrence,
Glad I found this site and specifically this thread, as I was going to drive out to Menifee tomorrow from Irvine!
Blue with grey wouldn't be my first choice, but hard to pass up at that price...
Good luck, and keep us posted on how it goes.

PPI to be done today by Techstar European Car Masters of Temecula. Will do a comprehensive inspection and also a compression test. Will keep all posted.

PPI done. Not flying colors. But few stuff that cannot be fixed as predicted. Spark Plugs needs replacement. R/R shocks leaking. Need 4 wheel alignment & balancing. Ticking noise on idle. What's causing this? Also went extra mile to do a Compression test. All cylinders okay are 145 and 150 altenating. However #6 has 130. Causes and remedy? Front left turn signal (amber) has a hairline crack on th lens causing moisture inside. Front lenses have some oxidation. Not yet that bad. But would require some polishing. Paint after R/R scrape did a lousy paint job. Seller did a repaint on R & L rear quarter panels to match the color. Still a lousy job painting but the colors naw match. Can a good detailing/buffing do the job? I will also probably replace the rear tails from Red/Yellow to Red/Clear. Front turns to clear. Know where I can find replacements for those? Are reps okay or are they supposed to be Originals? Reps any good? I will soon go to the General Discussion or Maintenance to start asking for information on how-to-fix-it. Hopefully the Search will ahve the answers. Will probably pick-up the car tomorrow if all goes well....or better still, just have the car placed on a flatbed and bring down to San Diego....hey, gotta use my Auto Club for 100 mile free towing.....save some miles on the car. Open to comments please......Thanks.

Regarding paint, call Dave over at 2M. 619.925.0888.

2M is a friend of the site. Ask about discount. Dave and Rich are both members of ZHPMafia.com.

As for some of your other questions, if you can't find the answers here, you know a few people you trust in San Diego (Shane, Vince, etc.) for answers.

Is Dave & Rich the owner of the detailer's place from Shanes previous shop? Or I may be hallucinating.....

Marcus-SanDiego

No. Dave and Rich own the body shop that's next to Shane's old place. However, Dave and Rich are moving to a new location (Group 5's old space).

Thanks to all for your support. From here on....I'll be trolling, lurking and chiming in or bugging you all on the DIY, Maintenance and other threads. But I have things to do first on the ZHP....replace ALL fluids. Better change the info on My Ride, huh....but not yet. I still don't have plates and not road worthy yet.

Must be nice to end the search with a new ZHP in the driveway.

Enjoy it!
