Seems like a great site for the ZHP enthusiast. Been lurking for a while. Not new to Bimmers but always wanted a ZHP. I've had an '04 330i ZSP, '04 Z4 3.0, and an '06 Z4 3.0si. I was searching for a manual tranny ZHP sedan for months until I finally found one back in July. I was searching via craigslist and decided to check out Hilton Head, SC for some reason. Stumbled upon an '04 Silver Gray ZHP sedan with 84K miles and flew down there to pick it up and drove it back to NOVA.

It was a 2-owner formerly CPO vehicle and I ended up picking it up for $13,250..not too bad IMO. It was always serviced at BMW of Hilton Head it's entire life so it was in pretty good condition. Since owning it, here is what I have done so far:

I've overhauled the cooling system including the upper and lower radiator hose, water pump, thermostat, expansion tank, aux fan sensor, coolant level sensor, and expansion tank cap. Changed out the belts and pulleys including the drive belt and a/c belt, water pump pulley, hyd tensioner pulley, idler pulley, and a/c pulley.

Other maintenance stuff: oil change, FCABs, front license plate holder, new OEM floor mats, driver's side window regulator, new headlight covers, new lower windshield cowl, power steering fluid, new spark plugs, new valve cover gasket and a/c evac and recharge. A couple of more maintenance items, namely diff and tranny fluid and I should be good to go for a good while.

I've also replaced the shift knob with a new ZHP knob. It's interesting to note that the original one was not weighted where as the new one is. I've also swapped out the emblems with carbon fiber ones. Also detailed the engine bay.

Just a couple of notes and tips. I had some rock chips on the aft portion of the shadowline trim and I touched it up using Duplicolor gloss black. It worked great and was a perfect match. When I swapped out the headlight covers for new ones from Khoalty, I took a couple of Q-tips and soaked them in some all purpose cleaner and cleaned out the rubber gasket. I've had no condensation at all and they fit great. Given the cost they are a better option then sanding and polishing IMO. Also, when I replaced the lower windshield cowl which was dry rotted and sun damaged, I spray painted the wiper arms with a high heat semi gloss black. Very easy to do since the wipers have to come off anyway and they look brand new. Again, a better option then a trim restorer for longevity reasons.

Love the car so far and it's looking and driving like new. It's currently at 87.5K miles. Here are a couple of crappy pics. Thanks for looking.

Months of lurking this site, you'll definitely know what needs to be done. Should almost be a prerequisite before purchasing :)
