Hello to all,

I purchased a 2005 330ci with the ZHP package in July, and I am enjoying it very much. I hve been lurking on the forum learning about the car. The only thing that irritates me is the infamous 4000 rpm dip. I had a local dealer pull the maintenance data on the car, and I don't see any software updates having been done. Does the update eliminate the dip or just lessen it? How would I know if it had an update, besides paying someone 100+ to plug it in?

Thanks,

James

Welcome. I think the update fixes it all the way but someone will have to confirm that. Shark injector software can cure it also.

Welcome. And, while we love our lurkers, congrats on moving out of lurker status. Not really sure if the s/w does the trick or not. Would love to hear more details about the car and pic please.

Anyone have an answer to his 4K dip question?

Welcome to the Family.

As far as the 4k dip, we've been back and forth on it here, but I believe the end result was your DME has to be sent to New Jersey.

Others will chime in.

Welcome! I was just down in NC this weekend in Durham cruising in my buddy's TiAg ZHP Coupe. I deduced that NC is a better state for owning/driving ZHPs by a factor of 8 bazillion compared to NJ.

haha why do you feel NC is better for owning a ZHP? There's much less traffic/aggressive drivers, that's for sure. Where in Durham were you? Durham is like 5 minutes from my house.

Good to see another convert. Like the great Dane Wilson said earlier, "Pics or ban."

welcome, and thanks for extending the ranks of the NC folks on here. Where are you in NC? we have members all across the state.

I have the 4k power dip too, and have the most recent software, according to BMW Asheville. They knew nothing about the Jersey send off, and said the new computers are interconnected enough now that it shouldnt be necessary. Do I believe them? Well.....do i want to bet $300 (the cost of the Jersey Update) that they are wrong? Well....

Welcome. DME has to go to NJ. We've been through this many times, it cannot be done via standard "software updates" at your local dealer. Their programming isn't as in-depth as what NJ does.

Had mine updated a couple years ago when it was still under mfr. warranty.
