View Full Version : Is your ZHP registered at the Registry?

nike001

If not, please register your car. I've come along few of them here on the forums that have not yet been registerred on zhpregistry.net.

For the past few days, I've been skimming through the interwebs and checking VIN's, and I've registerred quite a few myself. I've already maxed myself out on today. So, if you're doing the same.. feel free to post up the info that you have for other forum members to register that car for you in order to make sure we get as many as we can.

Thanks all!:roundel

I'm not sure that anyone knows the exact number. As far as I've seen, there are only estimates. Maybe Dane or Marcus will chime in with that number soon.

Yep. I was really happy to find out that my ZHP was already registered when I tried to register it. That means one of the two original owners knew of it :) That explains why the car is in such good condition.

So now I know who's flooding the database with registrations :) ... as long as they are ZHPs we're good!

BTW I added all but the last one from your post #3. I too ran out of allowed submission count and am too lazy to go and flip the switch off for checking this.

Seems quite high. Last time we put the Mafia Brainwerks on this, we came up with around 4k ZHPs, iirc.

Lots of info in this thread. (http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?171-BMW-330-ZHPs-Produced-(Population))

I registered mine when I bought it this spring, but I now have a question... what's the advantage/point of registering a car? Apart from seeing a breakdown of statistics for features/options (via charts), I don't see much useful info on the ZHP registry. Am I missing something?

I don't think you are missing anything. The question regarding how common or rare are ZHPs are has been being discussed on many forums. Around December of last year I was bored out of my mind at work -> the end result is ZHP Registry. As with anything else one thing leads to another so now there is a free classifieds section neatly showing ZHPs for sale open to anyone list a car for sale as well as a few interesting projects that eventually find their way to the ZHPR Projects page.

p.s. nk_zhp = ZHPRegistry.net... same guy :)

Lol-- I don't know anymore, John. My last recollection was that we were at sub-5,000.

I really wish BMW would just give us the frieken info.

Maybe now that we're a recognized SIG, we'll get a little further with BMWNA.

Any thoughts, Boss?

Keith, you gotta remember that although CCA has a lot of pull, they are not affiliated with BMW NA who plainly doesn't seem to care about telling us production numbers. Hell, they won't even tell ///M owners how many ZCPs were built.

I'd imagine disclosing any such numbers would be detrimental to their business, as competitors could use that information.

why would that be? they disclose production numbers on the cars, just not on the option packages (ZCP and ZHP are options, not cars)

Let's say BMW discloses that they sold cold weather packages on 90% of their M3 cars. A competitor could see that it's a popular choice on this vehicle, and then add a similar package as a standard option on their cars, thereby decreasing the value you get in the standard BMW.

On the other hand, if they sold cold weather packages on 5% of the cars, a competitor could discontinue their R&D into similar packages and not waste their time.

There are possibilities for a lot of different scenarios IMO.

kerunt - I agree, that makes sense but these are specific performance options. Especially with the fact that BMW markets itself as the 'Ultimate Driving Machine' they should yield to us enthusiasts who care about these things and disclose the number to us. I understand for other options, just not these two. Just my opinion.

Aren't the canadian M-sport cars assembled by BMW Individual just like our cars, just a slightly different parts arrangement? So in their own way just as "special" as US ZHP's.
