Sorry if I posted this in the wrong section.

I've been wanting to debadge my car ever since I bought it.

NO! I am not going to throw an ///M badge on my 325....nono

I just would like to just have the BMW sign.

I know that probably a fish line would get it off, just wondering if anyone else has done it, and if the 3000 grit sandpaper is really what will get the sticky stuff off the best.

NOOOOOOO!!!!! NO SANDPAPER!!!!!!! I did it with dental floss and a warm soapy sponge for the glue. Actually, just rubbing your finger over the glue gets most of it off. It took about 5 minutes total.

Awww I love it!

And you have the lip! I've been thinking of getting that too.

Yes, Debadging my car on lunch today!!!

You think Googon will work as well? I don't want the paint to thin out.

Id start with a cloth or sponge and warm soapy water. If any residue is left, then a little goo gone is prob ok, but id put it on the rag, not the car. again, it all came off pretty easily by rolling my finger over it. Just be patient, and if you have to wait to finalize it at home tonight, do so. FWIW, i think i finished mine off with a bug and tar remover i use on the front bumper

Thanks man I appreciate all the help!

I was just seeing youtube videos of de-badged BMW's and I really like it.

I dislike that some of the 3 series threw the ///M emblem on there or the Dinan emblem and their car is completely stock.

But to each his own.

Your car is sick bro. love it.

I will post pictures whenever I get done, the rain should stop here in about an hour so I should be able to do it.

I did the de-badge, not because i wanted to but because I had bought a CSL add-on (that i sold), thinking about putting them back on or leaving them off idk yet
It does provide a cleaner more symmetric look the the rear of your vehicle

but its just pull the lettering off, then rubbing the adhesive(very similar to black 3m tape) off with fingers and a soapy sponge
at least that is what did it for me

I remember Jreyes I was about to buy that CSL CF add-on.

But if it's that simple sheesh, I'm gonna do it to my car and my truck...

I hate that Cummings logo too lol.

10 lb fishing line is what I used.....

I used Berkley Fireline (fused microstrand fishing line) and had to work the hell out of the sticky crap with Goo Gone and WD40 to get rid of it. I washed the car and waxed the area that I worked with the Goo Gone afterwards.

use a hair dryer to warm up the badges before you run the fishing line/floss behind them. Makes it much easier to take them off

I started a thread a while ago on this topic. You might be able to find some more useful information over there.

Mission Accomplished!!!!

Although I have a few blisters, it was worth it!!!

It's already 32 degrees where I live in Kansas and so it was annoying me at how long the hair dryer was taking to heat up the glue, so I just rubbed it off with my finger....leading to a giant thumb blister hahaha.

My Tools:

10lb Fishing Line(Like Dane Used)
Hair Dryer(Sisters)
Hot HOT! Water
Sponge
And the good ole fashioned rubbing with the thumb.

Only took me about 5-10 minutes(Including grabbing supplies)

From what I see, a few car washes and a little bit more scrubbing will get the faint lines out. I am very satisfied at the results...

sorry for the crappy photo, just took it with my phone.

i bought mine debadged. i do prefer the look. not for the lack of "330Ci" but more for symmetry...love the look of just the roundel in the middle.

I know when I took off the badge the car just looked more....I can't even explain it, it just looks way better.

Now my car has no chrome though and that was my goal, maybe that's why I love it off there.

might do this on my car as well... like Webster mentioned, symmetry is the key word...

if only i can also have symmetry on the exhaust.... sigh....

My buddy that is the shop foreman up here did mine for me he used basically a plastic spatula to take the badge off and he had an attachment for his drill that was basically a big eraser looked like the art gum type so it wont burn the finish... 10 seconds later and badge/residue were gone
