very nice, I love the look of smoked lights. I just won't do mine because the red matches the Imola perfect IMO, if I had another color I would do it fo sho!

I would say the only thing you should do is to pop out that lower grill insert and paint it with some gloss black enamel Rustoleum, I did it to mine and it matches the shadowline perfect.

I been thinking of doing this for awhile now... how difficult is it to remove... I honestly have never even looked at its attachment points

nice pics!!!

ZHPs look much better without the front plates.

a few members have already painted that lower grill and looks so much nicer than the faded ones, and i will probably paint mines too, after this winter...

I think you have to remove the front bumper to get to the lower grill unless you plan on masking and painting it in place.

Car looks great btw!

Thanks! I did a quick search and found that you can do it without removing the bumper but run the risk of breaking the clips as its a less stable process of removal... may have to be a spring project as the temperature now is not conducive for painting and I don't have a garage

Nah, you can remove it by just pushing it out from the front and then pulling it through, iirc.

Several members have done it successfully.

Or just paint in place, mask everything off and put a piece of cardboard behind so you don't get it on your radiator. As for temp outside, you want it to be 60-80 for best results

May have to try and pop it out this Friday and spray it in a friends garage.... Is rustoleum the best paint to use?

Really like the look, especially the fronts with that color car. I need to paint my front grill so I'll try the Rustoleum.

I wonder if those would work on a dropped car? I'm tired of the area's behind my tires looking like ass. Especially after using tire dressing.

EDIT: I think I have plenty of room. Don't know how they would look though.

Yeah, that could work too but if I did black I would want a gloss black not the plastic look (at least on the body side, wheel well side i don't care).

Would you put a trucker girl on yours?

I'm confused. BavAuto says that the OEM flaps are not for cars equipped with the aerodynamic or ZHP packages... :dunno

midlandtech

My guess is there is a problem with it hitting the kit on the fronts

Something I noticed on the description from RealOEM concerning vehicles with aeodynamics or M Sports package, that this are not compatible with body style???? But photo says otherwise...please confirm or rebutt....

Are those OEM flaps? Perhaps this may be the disconnect; it's possible they're not.

Lawrence, I saw that too. It is confusing but if I understand correctly it is referring to the installation instructions

Important notice:
The installation instructions are not included in the retrofit kit. Print out the latest update of the instructions from the Aftersales Assistance Portal (ASAP) and hand them over to the customer.

For vehicles with
Aerodynamics components for M Package = No ---- SZE1A=No
and
Body styling = No ---- SZE2A=No
and
Aerodynamics package = No ---- SZE3A=No

For vehicles with
M Sports package II = No ---- S338A=No
and
Aerodynamics package = No ---- S716A=No

Confusing indeed. And yet, with the photo that you provided, the flaps are installed on a Performance Package. When they state '= No' does that mean they won't fit????? The flaps do look good installed. Got any more pics with mud flaps?

Hermes
12-02-2011, 07:35 PM
That was the only one I could find. I think the =No refers to the instructions. I'm sure the front ones fit, it would be the back ones that 'might' be an issue but even then I don't see how that part of our bumper would look different from a regular 3er, it's the back side of the car that is shaped different.

Maybe one of our resident BMW techs could chime in on this but I don't know if they've seen our conversation. You might want to post a new thread and just copy all of our comments
