JP had a couple good ideas in his project thread, but I didn't want to derail that. So I figured I'd make a special thread on my own :)

I've been thinking of changing the Front Grill to Matte Black and swapping the emblems to Black Ms. But I don't know how it would look.

http://a7.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/291733_2214302725309_1479780173_32311220_554543564 _n.jpg

The only reason why I'd not do it, is because there is still alot of "chrome" on the car. The front headlights are sliver inserts (and to change them means you have to break the headlights to access them...which isn't going to happen). And the interior of the car has so many M emblems everywhere it's kinda annoying (2 on the floor mats, knob, steering wheel, door sills).

So if I swap the exterior, the interior wouldn't match anymore, which IMO would look terrible, but who knows.

I've also been thinking of doing a front accent piece on the front grills. Yet I don't know if it would just look out of place on the front end.

Opinions, go at it.

Normally I'd like red/black contrast, I don't know that having the exterior not exactly match the interior is a huge issue, so I'd say it could look good. But, if you're going to notice it and potentially be bothered by it then it might not be worth it. I like the idea of the grill accent - was that going to be if you did or didn't swap out the front grill.

It'd probably be both, I don't know if it would look at home on the OEM grill though.

yeah, don't put the stripes on the chrome colored grill. What M logos are there on the interior that are chrome? (never been in a Z4M)

EDIT: Also, I originally had the black plastic/rubber pedals and the black leather shifter and e-brake. I put in the billet pedals and aluminum colored shifter/brake which match the gauge rings in my dash. I don't think a little bit of aluminum color is a big deal on the inside, I'm just not a fan of the actual chrome color. The only thing I guess I still have on my car that is chrome would be the little ring around the hood, trunk and steering wheel roundels and the door sill plates.

I like the idea of the swap but that just may be because I really don't like the stock chrome on the kidneys... However if it's gonna bug you that the exterior doesn't match interior I wouldn't bother with it

Bad picture, but the door sills are chrome, the knob (ZHP now) is chrome. The mats are just silver (as you can see), and the steering wheel is chrome.

found a pic online... does you car look like this?

http://image.motortrend.com/f/9211307+w786+ar1/112_0608_04z+sports_car_comparison+2006_bmw_z4m_co upe_interior.jpg

I have about the same amount of silver color in my car, I don't see it as a big deal right now. Especially the door sill where it is actually chrome and not aluminum, I see that for maybe a few seconds each time if I even pay attention to it.

Is the ring on the shifter chrome or brushed aluminum? Are you planning to get billet pedals? If you really wanted to, vinyl wrap it:

Yep, besides the Nav. I don't have Nav.

The CF leather is all brushed aluminum on my car too. The ring around the Knob is brushed too IIRC.

I was thinking of getting billet pedals, but I'm concerned with the grip of them.

EDIT: Scratch that, it's silver

vinyl wrap FTW. I'm thinking of getting the shadowline roof vinyl until I want to drop the $$$$$$$$$$ on a CF roof and new headliner w/o sunroof cutout

also, that CF leather is :drool, I know a guy that has it in his AW E92 M3

Yea, I'm in love with the CF Leather. It was impossible to find it though when I was searching. I might down the road try and pick some up. I don't want to wrap this stuff either, because I can get a pretty penny with it and I tend to like OEM things.

well, like i said earlier I don't see it as that big a deal to have the exterior all black badges and some silver colors on the interior; its not that much silver.

also, why not get these badges:

http://www.parts4euro.com/DCShop/images/100067a.jpg

black face with chrome sides. Best of both worlds

also, totally skipped over grip on the pedals... no problem with mine (real BMW pedals, not sure about other co's)

I really like the idea of black emblems and Kidneys, but I'm a bit partial to black on red. :)

Found this quick pic of a Z4 w/ black kidneys. I think it looks awesome, might have something to do w/ the lower center part of the bumper being black too. I realize this isn't an option for you because of resale. But, if you plasti-dip'd it, it would come right off when you wanted it to, no harm to the paint underneath.

in my opinion i would agree with you in that you have too much silver accents on the car to change exterior emblems to matte black
and it would annoy me personally if it didnt match the interior

dont get me wrong I love the black and red combo, its what I have lol :)
but i think there is much you would have to change to complete it like the bezels and door sills
but as for the kidneys and black front lip, i believe would look good without having to change much else

BTW somewhat on topic, I absolutely love your car

I like the black kidneys with the black painted or wrapped lower part of the bumper. As for the rest id leave it, there's alot to change in there to get it to match the exterior.

Man, that Euro front end looks so bad ass!

Do they make splitters or lower lips for the Z4MC?

I had the matte black grills on my immola ZHP and got tired of them after a few weeks. Still have them in the closet. Based on that, I wouldn't suggest getting those.

The black ///M badge may be nice though.

They do, but it makes the front end so much lower.

With that being said, I already nailed by fangs (thankfully I have skid-plates) DD the car.

I found some images of a Imola

I say do NOT go with black and white roundels. I think the blue and white bmw colors is very iconic ad it should not be changed.

That's just my $.02

+1, despite all of what I've done to my car I won't change my roundel

I don't like black & red together. I cringe when I see Imolas with smoked corners and black grilles. They most definitely need the chrome to accent the red..

The black most definitely dumbs the imola down and makes it stand out less.

Yea, I never even considered that as an option.

That makes perfect sense.

It seems that the car exterior wise is staying stock

Yes, just minor.

I meant swapping the M Emblems to Black...as in ///M Emblems.

I can't even swap my rear BMW emblem, because it controls the hatch and contains the locking cylinder. That would be an expensive replacement ;)

Sorry for the confusion ;)

I love it too. This may be a faux pas but it reminds me of the GT-R front, which I also love.

I respect this decision. But, your car has so much modding potential!!!!
