Was looking under my seat for something and came across this. A cursory look (somewhat dark) and I did not see where this belonged. I'll try again tomorrow in the daylight, but until then, maybe someone knows what this part is or what it goes to?

After more thought I think it covers the mounting hardware of your rear view mirror.

William.

That's it, I should have been looking up, not down! Thanks William!

Will do. I put it back on this morning, but my car is now at the body shop as they are swapping out my rocker panel.

It's the black rear view mirror surrounding.

that's a weird thing to fall off... I have a plastic screw I found under my seat one day that I have not been able to figure out where it belongs so I keep it in the armrest to remind me I need to figure it out. I'll post a pic when I get back in February, that way I can look around the car to see where it would go.

also, glad you got the mismatched rocker replaced. Did they do it for free since it was their mistake?

Hot damn. Can't believe you didn't notice.

I hate those loose screws, I always save mine. For the rocker panel, they did! They painted the part I bought, installed it, and returned my old one all for free (it's now almost 2 years later since the original install). Jim and Jacks Auto Body, El Segundo, CA. Very happy customer.

I think when my V1 was hardwired that part never got "clicked" back in, it was just kinda on. I made sure it was on tight.

You mean the rocker panel? I know, crazy. 2 freakin' years and no one noticed. Still cracks me up.

No...the rearview mirror cover.

johnrando

lol. Oh, the cover. That was funny too. Whenever it fell off it went under the passenger seat quick so I never saw it. Don't know how long it was down there, but probably just that day in reality.

Bump.

What's this for? I swear I've removed this before (and installed) but found this one on the garage floor. I put it on my shop bench about a month ago....and now it's just staring at me :shifty

Negative; it's the wrong shape. That to me looks like one of the little plug cap thingies that cover one of the bolts to the tail lights.
Check the black plastic thing that runs underneath the bulb retainers for the taillights; it covers the bottom bolt for one of the tails, if that is the one I'm thinking of. Looks to me like one of the three legs is broken off though.

hmm good catch. I noticed now on the computer the tabs on the side arent the same as the one from the interior panel. Similar but not exact. :)

That could be it BP. I'll check tomorrow. Def not an armrest piece which is what I thought it was.

Confirmed (PC 14). It is a cap cover for tail light. Both of mine are installed.

Someone from maintenance day at the meet may have left it. If you did tail light work at my place and discover you are missing this cap....let me know.

John, when I was removing my rearview mirror to send it in to be repaired, I took the mirror fittings off the back of the mirror and found a spider sack in it!

Betcha that cap belongs (belonged) to Cam.
Of course, it doesn't matter anymore since that car is now gone.

Not good! A couple of weeks ago I found a tiny spider web, 2 or 3 inches in diameter, in the upper right corner of my windshield. I'm just hoping it didn't lay eggs anywhere.
