Coolant leak, temp sensor function question?

So I was poking around today and noticed this, now I pushed on it down and it moved down. Im not sure if It was lose or what but I then spilled water on it to clear away the coolant and will see if it has stopped. If not though,

I think I just need a new sensor which is #4 it comes with an oring I would guess but I was gonna grab the hose as well. I will be at the dealer Friday so ill just get it there

If this sensor was unplugged or bad the temp gauge wouldn't work correct?

It may not have been properly seated.. But may work fine. You may just need a new o-ring.

Yes I found a thread where it states its a common leak from the oring. I can get a new sensor or just the oring

+1 on the ring...hose and sensor are probably fine.

You may want to consider calling the dealer before you go. Not sure if you're going just for that, but when I went to get one they had to order it for me. And that was at a pretty big dealership.

I got just the O-ring and that fixed it, took all of 5 minutes.

If anyone else has this issue, I got a 6 pk of o rings from lowes that work. 44 cent stamp and ill send one ur way. Hell, stamp is on me, just need an address.
