Most miles driven in a day?

Just curious, what is the most number of miles you have driven in a day before resting/sleeping/reaching your destination? In a month, I have an 800 mile road which I have done several time in the past. While I could easily go for more if my destination was farther, 12 hours in a car alone on the interstate is enough excitement for one day.

For the people driving to the Mafia SIG Extravaganza, how far will you be traveling?

In my younger years I drove from Orlando, FL to Columbus, OH in one day. I was young and stupid. It sucked.

Most I ever managed was the trip to Dane's in VA, about 450 miles approximately. I was getting a little sick of the drive at that point, but probably could have gone another couple of hours. Approximately 7 hrs with no interruptions.

1244 miles. Used to take me around 21 hours total. Did this for 3 years (1986-1989)....driving home and back to college (for breaks, summer, etc...)

I did this one back in my band days... took us 21hrs all together and we left at 3am without having slept yet - I drove the entire way and we got into Charlottesville at midnight.

Total mileage was only 850 but it took so long cuz we were weaving up and down the mountains in WV and VA. That and people kept needing to stop to piss eat and get gas.

I learned my lesson on the way home and just took the 4 lane interstate up into PA and through Pittsburgh. Return trip only took me 13 hrs

18 hours & 1,000 miles from MD to St. Pete, FL in a Jeep. Only driven that straight through once. Every other time, stopped after about 12 hours and 600 miles. Did enjoy 700 miles in the E36 in one clip once, and averaged 37 MPG!

I drove 332 miles each way in one day to pick up/install my M3 hood. So 664 miles.

Totally worth it.

I drove from Minneapolis, MN to just west of Boulder, CO solo in one shot. About 940 miles and I think it took 13.5 hours on the way there (snowstorm the last 3 hours) and 12 on the way back. On the way there I had planned to stop over with a friend in Lincoln NE but I got there and felt like pressing on. In both directions I exhausted the batteries of both mp3 players that I had (clearly I didn't have DICE ipod attachment in that car). This was in my trusty 2002 Dodge Stratus R/T Coupe.

Yes...mine was. I only stopped for gas, jolt cola, sunflower seeds, and Copenhagen.

The longest I have driven was a few years ago when I drove from the Providence, RI area to Ottumwa, IA (@ 1,300 miles). I didn't stop and drove the whole route non-stop. Took me just over 23 hours to get there although the map showed just over 21 hours. My mom was very sick from cancer when I got the news so I drove out. When I was in Toledo my brother called me to tell me that she had passed away so I just continued on my trip until I got home...the longest time I have ever been behind the wheel.

My record would have to be then my cousin and I went from Albuquerque to Venice beach CA in one day, but I would say my longest drive would be the day I went from Roanoke VA to Boston without checking the weather, with a dog in the back seat. It started snowing before I left VA and I saw snow in every state along the way. Turned a 12-13 hr ride to almost 20. ugh.

That's horrible man, a memorable drive indeed but not for the right reasons. I'm sorry.

Thanks, appreciate it. Yeah, I will always remember that drive....lots of emotions while driving....didn't drive crazy but did a lot of reflecting while driving.

My lil brother graduates this year from dental school, we will have the pleasure of driving his car from Omaha to San Diego, 1,610 miles total. We'll most likely stop and see my aunt in Vegas so only 1,290 at a stretch

That's a tough one Charlie. I've logged an 18, and a 20 hour trip. Houston to LA (18 because I stopped somewhere along the way and rested, then finished up the last 6 or so the next day) and New Orleans to DC was the 20 I believe.

Last August, I did from Corolla, NC to Merritt Island, FL in one shot. That's about 800 miles. The trip home was from Orlando, which is close to the same mileage, but I did that under some fun circumstances. In the 72 hours leading up to the trip, I had maybe eight hours of sleep. That was a special ride... I was pretty twisted on that one. The up side was I got ~31 MPG while cruising 75mph.

Dallas, TX to Savannah, GA in one non-stop (except gas!) trip. Never again, I was a lot younger then! Oh, yeah - I was driving a 1970 BOSS 302 Mustang....

Last Saturday did 1190 miles from bisbee az to kc stopping only for gas and grub averaged 30 mpg for the whole trip including driving through mountains and about 500 miles of 2 lane roads through TX, NM, KS
