Its happened around 3 times today and the symptoms are the tach will start rev bouncing from 500-900 rpm several time before finally stalling. It's hotter out now and I don't recall this happening when it was winter and cold out so maybe the heat has something to do with it.

I also think it happens more readily when my car is on a small incline.

Is this indicative of anything? The only mod I have is the afe cold air intake.

Thanks.

Check your intake boots and clean ICV while you're down there.

Clean ICV is pretty easy. Look here (http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?1830-BMW-E46-ZHP-DIY-and-Preventative-maintenance) and we can answer questions.

Manifold gaskets go bad maybe? A leak could kill the vacuum and cause a stall or rough idle.

That's what happened to me on right turns. I didn't have the intake boot connected to the throttle body properly.

Yeah... That's pretty common (intake boot crack/tear or improper mating to ICV/TB) . Manifold gasket fail on E46 I haven't heard of too many times though.

Yeah a leak in any part of the system can cause it.
