So, I needed to find a receipt to bring to the insurance company on monday so I figured I'd do a quick tally of the receipts I had in my folder... I know I'm missing a few small items, but all the big stuff is covered...

The back story: I have owned my car for almost 10 months, I am not going to give the parts breaksown just yet since I'm supposed to be studying right now, but I will update it in the future.

I purchased my Imola Red 03' ZHP sedan with 102k miles, paid $8k.
Parts, labor I have put into it in 10 months... $8,055.71

I have done many or most things as preventative maintenance, but there are also many required replacements, and as for labor; it only accounts for $150 for welding my subframe reinforcement, $190 for stealer ECU reprogramming, $75 for an alignment... plus I counted my $300 deductible I just paid for a vandalism claim.

I kind of wish I hadn't counted my receipts, in fact I kind of wish I didn't even have them... but I love my car and it is worth it... I hope!

I still have about $1,500 worth of parts to get before the summer just so I'll be ready for the track... Holy fawk, I hope my wife NEVER finds my receipts because she would KEEEEEELLLLL ME!!!

I divided my ZHP costs into maintenance, repair, and modification categories. Doesn't make the total any smaller, but I can pretend it's very reasonable by looking at only one of those 3 numbers at a time!

I will be doing this to ease the pain, and possibly "accidentally" shredding a few receipts... Just for my safety...

What receipts? :)

Exactly. No sense holding on to the evidence.

My wife thinks everything Khoalty, ECS, and Bimmian sells is under $30. :biggrin

NEVER keep all your receipts! When you add them up, you will get "sick". My last car was a 2001 Camaro SS and when adding up the receipts, I was really driving a Corvette ZO6:)

I refused to do this FWIW. :shifty Lol

In all honesty, I knew what I was getting into which is why I was thrilled to find my zhp so cheap- I planned to replace and rebuild everything with whatever car I bought, so I'm happy to be into a significantly refreshed car; relatively cheaply.

How can you claim them on your taxes?

It has to do with the fact that I work in sales and use my car for business. You can either itemize or just get a set payment for mileage. Here is a general explanation:

Wow. Like a few others, I'm not going to look at my receipts.

I have an excel sheet with miles logged and timeline + calculated costs. It seems that number doesn't phase me anymore..LOL

Ive had my car for 4 months and already spent around $1,000.

Going to have the brakes done, suspension on front and rear refreshed, and new wheels and tires by end of summer. Oh yeah and I need new regulators. Oh and new speakers. It's gonna be around $4,000 for my first year of ownership.

Once I get all this stuff done though I should be good till 200,000k.

The price we pay for greatness.

Ahhh, yeah I can't claim anything worthwhile as a student... I wish that I could, since the car cost more than tuition in the same period.
