View Full Version : Enjoying the ZHP experience

I picked up my ZHP about a month ago and I've had a grin on my face ever since (except for when I had to pay sales tax). It's an '05 Ci, Titanium Silver, sans rear lip spoiler, Black leather intererior. It's not perfect, but for being seven years old it is pretty close.

My projects, which is kind of a stretch, for now are to: replace the rear view mirror, which is stuck half tinted and has some ugly stuff happening along the lower edge; install an ipod hookup, install yellow lamps for the fog lamps (and possibly the high-beam lamps); and install a better intake.

My way down the road ideas involve doing things like pulleys, a better exhaust (it's almost strange how quiet the car is on the highway coming from driving mustangs), I would love to switch to the silver cube from the black (I think it would go really well with the silver paint).

For now, however, goal one is keeping the car looking as good as it does now.

I'd love to get into doing track days. I live within easy driving distance to the Virginia International Raceway, but for now my work schedule involves weekends... so that's going to have to be put off for awhile.

Some blurbs about me:

I live in Lynchburg VA. Studied English at Lynchburg College, and have most of a Masters in English finished at LC, which I'll be finishing up soon...ish. Most of undergrad study was in Renaissance Lit. I focused as much as possible in grad on Textual Editing, which is basically the process that takes several old printings, and\or the original work to create the text that gets sold. It's a long and tedious process that usually involves looking up a lot of words in the OED and screwing your eyes at smudged type. I've also done some work with Hemmingway, and if only a class in the modernists was offered at my school I would be all over it.

Currently I work for Media General, which owns a lot of newspapers and some TV news. I'm a copy editor and for now split my time between several papers (I think 20 some papers are put together in my office). Sometimes I get a preview of what is happening in my city, but most of the time I know a lot about what is happening in high school sports in southwest Virginia.

Welcome to the family!

Your interior looks so clean. That passenger seat still has the creases straight from the factory. It's like it has never been used.

I just ticked over 63,000 mi.

Yeah, the passenger seat and back seat look like they've never\rarely had anyone in them. That's going to change as my wife and I are more than likely going to be going for drives through the mountains in it. Were so close to the Blue Ridge Parkway that it's a crime not to.

The driver's seat has some wear on the left wing (don't know the technical term for it). My game plan for that is to just keep leather conditioner on it in hopes that it doesn't get any worse.

And because it's spring the interior now has oak pollen all over it. It's going to take a while to get that all out...

My projects, which is kind of a stretch, for now are to... install yellow lamps for the fog lamps (and possibly the high-beam lamps)

just wondering exactly what you're thinking with regards to the above comment. Do you just want yellow bulbs or do you want it the reflector painted yellow? Just so you know the high beam reflector on facelift coupe/vert headlamps are a PITA to bake, paint and put back together. The fog lamps are relatively easy, or you can just buy the yellow lens fogs from eBay. If you have questions let me know as I've already done it.

Really? I would have thought that was not all that uncommon... just assumed cuz that's what I have.

Paint your corner reflectors and get blacked out grills and badges and you will have an exceptional looking ZHP :) Car looks great :thumbsup

looks great. I love the rear parking sensors on ZHP's. It makes the rear bumper look even more aggressive.

Hermes, I think I saw the thread you started about doing the bake and paint and it really did look like a huge pain in the ass. I honestly don't know If I'm willing to put that much effort into it right now. So my plan for now is just to get the yellow bulbs. If I decide to go the bake and paint route I'll be doing a test run on the fog lamps before I go through the trouble of pulling the headlight clusters out.

If you have questions let me know as I've already done it.

I'll send you a PM later about what all you did.

Cak,

Where do y'all go for the grills etc? I think the only place that I've come across color changes for the emblems is on the Turner site, and that's just stickers which I think would probably not look very good.

Welcome to the Mafia, man. That is a sweet looking machine you have there. I'm taking in races at VIR whenever I can manage to get there. And since you aren't too far away, have you seen anything about our SIGFest (http://www.zhpmafia.com/forums/showthread.php?6002-ZHP-Mafia-SIGFest-2012-Williamsburg-VA-May-18th-19th-amp-20th)?

welcome! nice ZHP.

my advice, skip the intake. BMW got it pretty good, IMO the HP/$ just isn't there. unless you want to do it just to do it.

The driver's seat has some wear on the left wing (don't know the technical term for it).

Welcome to the mafia. Clean looking Z!
In reference to your rear view mirror, I've read that once they're in that condition, some have been known to leak. And the fluid tends to ruin whatever it falls upon.
