This is one of my latest interests... Not too comfortable with the "past maintenance unknown" but at 68k miles, I'm not sure... Thoughts from all of you? I have an old friend in the area, VERY car knowledgeable, so I'd like to have him check it out for me.

^ well this should save you some trouble.

I looked at this car way back in January. It was going for $11.5 on craigslist. seemed to good to be true. I had a meeting set up and everything but as soon as i asked for the VIN, the guy never responded or answered my calls. Saw it again a few months later (before i bought my ZHP). I guess the original guy sold it to this guy, who then cleaned it up a little, raised the price $3k, and put it back up for sale.

The car was wrecked on the east coast and somehow the salvage title didn't transfer to CA. I cant access the whole carfax anymore but i had this picture I sent to the guy who was trying to sell it after he told me it had a clean title :) just trying to keep em' honest

WHAT THE EFF!!!! Wow, thank you to all who replied. I honestly really liked this car, and I've got a very good friend that lives in the Sacramento area that could've checked it out for me. So, I would've definitely had her all checked out and even ran my own Carfax... But, you guys already helped me out.

Super sketchy that the title didn't transfer over as salvage... BS...

As for the wheels, I like them too, but he does have the stockers/stock springs that he said he would put on instead...

Ugh, I am going crazy trying to find the right car! And of course, driving home this evening, I saw a pretty clean Sparkling Graphite ZHP Coupe... *sigh*

Hmm, just spoke to the owner again and he admitted to knowing about the 'minor front damage' and that it was previously salvaged in another state. But he also stated that it had a "California clean title" so as far as he's concerned, he will sell it as a clean title car. He says the damage was to the front end, but he also said that the hood and grille is original, he's not sure about the bumper though... I also mentioned over 6 owners and he said it was because the car was rare and people didn't drive it much, but I told him that'd be a reason for NOT a lot of owners... People hang on to collectible cars... Whatever...

This guy seems upfront, but sadly I just don't know if I could do it... Such a nice looking car too...

Guy is full of shit if ue thinks the value equals what the title says and not the carfax.

Offer him $9000 and then walk away.

I dunno. I would pay for a PPI.....if clean.....jump on that sheet.

But then again...I'm willing to forgo a little pain, to get the right car.

Yeah I know... Sucks because when I talked to him, I could tell he was not at all concerned... He can't afford the car, so his price will go down soon enough, hopefully to something reasonable...

Agree 100%. It's a salvage title car.

The current owner is shady. I feel sorry for the person who buys this car without realizing it has a salvage title.

I do too... Sadly, I WANT this car... I called on the original car I wanted (the alpine white one in Colorado) and still no response... This car was a close 2nd.. And its a salvage... Fuuuuuuudge!

Jupiter, check if this is still available: (didn't want to create a separate thread in case this was an old listing)

Here's a white one (NYC) but auto. Plus, offer price is suspiciously low.

Yeah....not getting a good vibe. Missing a fog....parts on floor, dings on trim....

Thanks for the help guys! I have seen both of those cars online in the past. The grey one looks decent... The white one is both auto and a coupe... And yeah, looks like it might be a bit hacked up. Plus, the trim around the foglight housing on the front bumper is painted, so clearly the front has been repainted.... Maybe due to rock chips, maybe due to damage... Either way, too much for me to want to handle.

Thanks again guys. The help is great!

to be fair, seller did say he was replacing fogs with HID bulbs...may be why they are "missing" in the pics...

Nope. You're absolutely right. I did not read ad. Imho... If that's the case... He should have replaced prior to even advertising.
