I have been poking around for a while at strut bars and found this one from UUC that looks great:

Strut Barbarian (http://store.uucmotorwerks.com/shared/StoreFront/default.asp?CS=uuc&StoreType=BtoC&Count1=781231105&Count2=698371529&CategoryID=106&Target=products.asp)

However, they have been soldout every time I check their site. I can't find them on eBay Motors or any other E46 forums/online classifieds. I saw one this morning on e46Fanatics.com and was a week late. Someone was selling a gently used model for $225 shipped. Drat.

Has this product been discontinued by UUC?

EDIT:

nevermind I thought it said Swaybarbarian.

I just got off the phone with a rep from UUC. He said that they are currently not offering the StrutBarbarian due to the fact that they are currently in the process of redesigning it to be an even better product. He recommended that I check back online around the end of the summer and see if the new product is available for sale that that time.

The good news is that the product is going to be improved. The bad news is the price will probably go up. Such is life...

A strut bar is a piece of metal...designing it better is all marketing talk.

$20 says you talked to Rob...

Go with something else. It's all metal

I can't imagine any changes they could make to the strutbarbarian that go beyond aesthetics. Honestly, for the price, I'd probably just go with the M3 strut bar. Or if it were still available, the BMW performance bar.

I don't have a whole lot of money to put into the car right now, but would like to firm up the suspension as best I can. What would you recommend?

Sway bars are the best bang/$ suspension mod you can make

I agree.

Also agree. Love the new feel after I switched to the H&R bars.

Sway bars. I can almost guarantee you won't feel a difference with a strut bar. I got my E46 M3 swaybar for $270 new. Non E46-Ms go cheaper

Hour of your time. Jack the car up, remove your skid plate. Unbolt the 2 rubber bushings, unbolt the endlinks. Take the bar out

Reverse process

^^^ Those go on top of the strut tower or below (above the strut assembly)? I was planning on putting those in when I changed my struts.

Simple. Might as well swap out bushings as well.

Go Horns!

I did not notice a difference in the way the car drove after putting the strut bar on. But I am still glad that I did not pass up the BMW Performance eye candy.
