I am having an issue of gas spilling out of the filler neck once I have completed filling up the car. Basically I will fill the car up, the pump clicks to a stop, a second or two later gas comes gushing out. It doesn't happen everytime, just once in a while.
I want to say it is just at this one station when this happenes but I am not really sure. Could it be a gas station issue or something up with the car?
I feel really dumb when it happens and not happy at all having that gas spill onto the paint.

It's a pump problem, not your car. When I find the stations that this happens at, I tend to stay away from them.

I ended up claybar'ing the area and waxed to whole car that night.
Filled up on Sat and today with no issues. Kinda hate that I won't be going to that gas station as they have low prices and is super close to my parents place.
Never had any issues for ~5 years when I had the Honda. :scratchinghead

That happened to me once, except for the pump didn't shut off. It was awful, I spilled gas all over the place. I actually took out the squeegee and washed my car down to try and get all the gas off. Then washed it with ONR when I got home. Stupid pump.

This happened to me the other day too. The station I've got to with all my other cars (including the X3) has never been a problem, but the first fill up there with the ZHP and it puked all over.. It actually spilled out from inside the wheel well before coming out the filler cap area... Suuuuucked.

Mention it to the gas station maybe they'll get the pump checked out and keep you coming back :)

I wouldn't worry about going back there if you want. It was just one bad nozzle with a screwed up auto shut-off. Just don't use that same location (pump) again. And besides, by now they've probably gotten complaints about it and replaced the nozzle.

Glad to find this old thread. I gas up at the same Shell station and this happens to me all of the time. I've gotten into the habit of withdrawing the nozzle with a paper towel to catch the drips (like I did when I had my motorcycle). However, last night it happened again where the pump shut off and gas poured out the side of the car and left puddle the size of a large pizza.
It has poured out like this 5 times in the last 7 months.

I get this a lot. It's the pump. Try pulling the pump neck out a little bit. That works 50% of the time, every time.
