View Full Version : Rear seat cover for dog?

Yesterday I put down a deposit on a German Shepherd puppy! I'm super excited and will be picking her up this coming Friday :). In the meantime I need to pick up some covers to protect my (rear) interior. I've found a ton of cheap ($15-20) options on eBay, but they're all generic and fit may be questionable. A friend of mine has an E92 335i and he got authentic BMW rear seat covers which cover the side doors, rear seats, and back of front seats - great stuff. He said he got it either from ECS Tuning or Real OEM, but I can't find anything for the ZHP on either site :(. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

What do you guys use?

Thanks!

I thought I saw one for E46s somewhere too. A guy on e46f.c was giving his away, I couldn't get to it in time. No idea where they are new. Maybe you could find that post and ask him? Frankly I'd like mine for the few times I have to pick up my kids from the beach in my car (I usually use my wife's for that, hee hee).

Oh, and, congrats on the pup!

Thanks!

I did find a few threads on E46F, but they were all about aftermarket covers, and usually in the "hammock" style. What my buddy has is not the hammock style, but rather individual pieces which cover the rear seats, rear sides (arm rests, etc.) and back of front seats. It's all BMW branded, perfect fit, and feels like thick vinyl with a cloth-like top layer. That would be the ideal option IMO.

The one that I was talking about was an OEM BMW one. Let me know if you find one por favor.

i have one

It's still hammock style to protect the front seat backs but it has the removable side pieces and everything fits pretty snug. I'll go look for a PN#

I've just been throwing a blanket down, or putting them in the other car. Mine don't shed though, so they aren't such a big problem. Seth's seemed to work well, until comisky tried to get underneath it...

Thanks for the info guys. The problem with a hammock cover is that I've got a coupe, and I'll need to take the cover off the front seat(s) any time I want to move the seat (ie. let the dog in/out). The non-hammock cover my friend has doesn't suffer from that inconvenience, heh. I'll keep searching!

UdubBadger

Oh well this one is made specifically for sedans is what I was told so yeah that won't work for you.

What about just buying e46 coupe vinyl seat covers?

I feel like I saw a Non-Hammock style one. I want to say in BavAuto or some other car magazine.

I almost want to say it was made by weather tech but don't quote me on that.

I will try to dig something up.

Yup. It's about $350, plus another ~$100 to cover sides and another $120 to cover the rear of the front seats. At that price point I'll just get a $20 hammock from eBay and deal with the hassle :).

Still no luck finding the OEM BMW covers my buddy has... argh!

Me too.

I'd like to find a cover for my rear seats (coupe) for transporting my drums to gigs.... I don't care if it's used/ scratched up, as long as it fits ( and isn't 300$!!!)

I heard back from Evan @ getBMWparts.com - looks like the universal e446 cover is discontinued. Part # is 52300002741 if anyone can find one!

Rando that is the one I have

Description on Amazon says "Can be used on one or both sides of the car." - what does that mean? I'm assuming it's talking about the side panels? Does it not protect both at the same time?

yura

This item looks like the same material as in my buddy's E92: http://www.amazon.com/BMW-Protective-Rear-Seat-Cover/dp/B001QCLIUM/ref=sr_1_31?ie=UTF8&qid=1347920873&sr=8-31&keywords=bmw+rear+cover ... but his is shaped specifically for his seats.

I found some photos of the same covers my friend has in his E92: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showpost.php?p=9074244&postcount=4

I'm going to try out his covers in my car and see how they fit - might just work out. Finding anything decent for the E46 coupe is impossible - spent at least 4 hours today searching and talking to at least a dozen dealerships & aftermarket shops, no luck.

I use this one. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3307+20818+15290&pcatid=15290

$37 and if you add an item to push the order over $49 they'll ship free.

My dogs are filthy! Yesterday it was warm-ish, and one of them actually laid down in a mud puddle just as we were getting back to the car. I had no real option but to load him in there and drive 1/2 mile to a creek where he could take a "bath". The seat cover protected fairly well but he still got mud on the back of the front seat and the side panel. Oh well, it cleans up easily.

Now, about the nose marks on the windows... that's a whole other issue...

My car is dirty and embarrassing.

So I tried out the OEM BMW e92 cover and it fits great! Part number is 52300416248 and is available for $260 ($280 shipped) at ECS tuning (http://www.ecstuning.com/Search/52300416248/ES156497/). Just ordered mine!

Right web page? It says "tonn cover" and it's kinda hard to tell what it is.

They're not an affiliate (not sure if ECS is either), but eBMWParts has it for about ~$40 cheaper including shipping in you wanna save a few bucks.

Also, just as an FYI, I've been using this car seat cover (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0014LY92O/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i00) for my rear seats for the the past year. I have an older, 6 year old, chocolate lab that's relatively good in the car and doesn't scratch the door panels so I've lucked out with not having the side door panels covered.

Yup, that's the one. Flip through the pictures and one of them will show the "full size" cover pieces.

Specifically, look at images 7:

Dang, could have saved $40. Oh well.

I also bought a similar style hammock from ebay (link (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350596957974)) for my mom's sedan.

Sorry we're a little late here but yea we have the OEM one for the coupe. It's friggin awesome. it's no problem moving the seats. I would not get anything but OEM... that's one thing that BMW has done very well. We got the one for the X5 too... covers the WHOLE interior

yep, it's the only way to protect the whole interior.
Our dogs have spewed chunks all over the back of Kristen's 325 but with that OEM liner, all we had to do is take it out and hose it off. it's all one piece... no muss no fuss... oh and our German Shepherd had diarrhea in the X5 twice on the way back from Ohio a couple weeks ago (fun on a 500 mile trip) when we got home, same thing, pull it out and hose it off..:thumbsup

Ha, classic Hermes, my Berlin will stick his head out the sunroof any chance he gets. Dripping drool on the armrest as he does it. I usually end up using my sleeve to wipe it up... awesome.
