Hmmmz, I thought I posted this already, but couldn't find it, so I'll try again. Apologies if it is a duplicate.

We've owned BMWs since 1984. A few years ago we upgraded my wife to a 2003 330iA with sport package. In February of this year I was driving it back from San Jose and was rear-ended while stopped on a freeway on-ramp. The car was totaled. Got a good insurance settlement and went looking for a replacement.

At the used car dealer where we bought the 2003 E46, there was a Silver Gray 2005 ZHP. I knew they had the car, but she never liked a really stiff ride or back interiors, so I hadn't mentioned it.

Her: What's this?
Me: Performance package. Stiff ride, black interior. I didn't think you'd like it.
Her (to salesman): Can we sit in this one?
Salesman opens car.
Her: These are the most comfortable car seats I've ever sat in. Can we drive it?

It was late on a Sunday afternoon and they had been locking up when we arrived. But the salesman agreed and we took the freeway to a local twisty road.

Her: This is fun! I want it.

So we bought it. Since it is her car, it is an automatic (by choice, not necessity). But I still enjoy driving it, and I've also started autocrossing it. And it is a blast! I'm re-thinking my desire for an Estoril E36 M3 4 door.

Anyway, your site here looks well managed and informative - glad someone steered me here.

Welcome to the forum Scott! And an East Bay guy, very cool! I used to live in Pleasant Hill... Once in a blue moon I miss the area (typically when I want a twisty road, as we don't have them in Florida)...

Anyway, post some pictures of the car and enjoy the site, it is fantastic, I'd be willing to say the people are as awesome as the cars we revolve around! :thumbsup

Welcome and it seems like you're near a couple members in the bay area. I hope you enjoy the car as much as all of us.

Welcome! I grew up in Fremont and we used to ride through Palomares / Crow and end up in San Ramon. Lots of good roads up there for a ZHP.

Welcome, Scott!

I found the post you thought you had lost located on your user page (when you click your name) in the visitor comments. Just to verify that you are not senile and really did post it prior to this thread :)

OK, I threw some pictures in an album which, presumably, everyone here knows how to find. Under my profile? I don't hang out on forums much, and each one seems to be set up differently. Anyway, thanks to everyone for the welcome.

Welcome! I grew up in Fremont and we used to ride through Palomares / Crow and end up in San Ramon. Lots of good roads up there for a ZHP.

My favorite local drive is Norris Canyon Road between Bollinger Canyon and Crow Canyon Roads - narrow and twisty west of the pass and not much traffic. The ZHP does just fine through there.
