Honestly, it's about #s at this point. If the #s work, then I'll take a shot at the 135. If not, then I'll happily drive this car well beyond 200k, which is what it's set up to do considering all the work that's been done to it.

I'm going to list this on the other enthusiast sites.

More info: I am not the original owner. Can't remember if I am 4 or 5. Car changed hands and was not driven much from 2005 - 2009 when I bought it. I bought it with 30k miles in August of 09. Flew out to Michigan for THIS car after a lengthy search.

Never tracked, sadly. Track time just wasn't in the cards for me in the last three years.

New OEM battery.

This plan is like drunk sex with an unnatractive partner-

It sounds great right now, but you'll hate yourself and feel all dirty when you get up the next day.

I mean, that's what I hear anyway. :shift

Haha- just putting my 2 cents in.

The car is beautiful. If I could talk my wife into another one, I'd be on my way with $15k right now.

Anyone who is considering a move should jump on this before Marc comes to his senses.

What is this about "talking the wife into..." crap? Behaviors dictate beliefs; buy the car, and she will believe. Build it, and they will come.

Hey, buy the car and I'll STILL help you do the DISA and VANOS! WOWwhatadeal!

Bump for updated auto check information. Scored a 93 with similar cars in the 80s. Car had 3 owners from 2005-2009 (0-30k mi), then all me since. It has "events" on the autocheck for title updates, transfer, and registrations - all normal stuff. NO ACCIDENTS.

Thank you!

Bump for added "included in sale" section. Best part is the $500+ worth of new parts (Dr. Vanos/DISA/VCG/ETC...). If the car sells soon, then you get the parts. If it sells later, then they just may be installed already.

Y'all can do what you wish. No solid plans to install at this moment. Buyer gets value either way.

I'm not going to purposely hold off on installing to save the time and force the buyer to do it. If people want to play games and wait it out, that is fine with me. I have the parts right now; if the car sells right now, the parts go with.

Two people coming to see it this sat!

Thanks - just trying to keep everything open with potential buyers. Of course it doesn't make sense for me to install the stuff if the car is going to be sold, but you know what, I'm looking for a buyer who will appreciate the parts or the install should it happen.

And let's be clear: it makes ZERO sense for me to sell this car considering the $ I've paid just in maintenance on it (I just put on brand new brakes and o2 sensors!!!). But attempting to buy a 135is has nothing to do with sense or need or logic. It has everything to do with WANT! So this is why this car will be sold to the right person for the right price. Ideally, it'll sell to someone who will post its future exploits with this family.

Keep that plate and put it on the 135!

THAT, my friend, is a friggin' awesome idea!!!!!

The beauty of the plate is only dorks like us know what it means, but when a ZHP dork sees it, he looks at it in a self-satisfied way, "Heh, I know what that means." But if I put it on a 135, then it will mess with EVERYONE, dorks like us included! "Hah," they'd scoff, "that guy is an idiot - he thinks his E82 is an E46!!! What a looooooooser!!!!" It's diabolically genius.

alexandre

Very good point. I so wanted that plate - here in QC we can't have vanity plates, but look what the format is (L## LLL)

http://img6.imageshack.us/img6/1986/photo2012083165824pm.jpg

Was already on a car though :(

Once I was going to the country for the weekend, I saw 2 plates with ZHP on it, one with ZSP, and one with E46. That's on a 100 mi drive.

EDIT: I just saw your avatar and LOL'd!!!

I had the opportunity to ride in the car and man...what a bullet the car is. Feels and handles more like a 20k car.

The level of maintenance that Marc has performed is among the best I have seen. The passion he has for the car is apparent and it is sheer good luck to the buyer to get this car that Marc intended to keep for a long time.

Hopefullly this superbly maintained car goes to someone in the mafia or an enthusiast desiring an IR sedan.

On a personal note: delighted to have met the reputed Roundel columnist in person. :) He is a very relaxed and nice guy, and I hopefully will get to meet him more. (Sorry Marc, I know that could be a nasty surprise to you ;). Maybe I can drag you into the NJBMWCCA auto-x and other events once you get the new ride. :D)

Gary - I am going to inquire about perf. center delivery. Want to get it done - only live once, right?

Car is, for all intents and purposes, sold. Have a deposit and we jacked the car up and did our own PPI (buyer's brother is quite mechanically inclined and is an E46 expert). Car passed his test with flying colors.

I'm sad to see this go, but I'm also choosing to sell it. If I were entirely emotionally attached to it, I wouldn't sell it. I have no qualms about getting rid of the 135is and getting back into a ZHP if this experiment doesn't work out.

This will still be the place I hang out the most, by far. And I'll see you all at sigfest in the Spring (I hope). It's weird. I'm not going anywhere, but I feel like I am. Some of our best family members don't have ZHPs, so that'll be me.

Back to Gary - I just remembered why you're sad I'm selling the car - now you don't get to drive it and beat on it like I beat on yours! hahahahahhaah

I've driven quite a few 135's in my day.. they don't have the same 'personality' that the zhp does, but I'm sure that the power will keep you addicted enough to hopefully not regret your decision.

Good luck!

Agreed, but I found its road manners to be very similar with the m-sport suspension. It is definitely heavier than the 128i, but it still feels quite balanced.
