So who's going to spring for this?

For deep pockets it may an option. Article doesn't say if the data shown is stored so it can be analyzed later, etc. Alternatively, BMW could expand what the head-up display shows and not have it in the steering wheel.

I really doubt if it works on a ZHP either way. I think both generations of that wheel only work on iDrive generation cars.

it is cool technology but also seems a little gimmicky.
