Anyone ever seen a socket to tighten the below hinge? It looks kind of like a Torx socket?

Yeah, inverse torx or whatever you want to call it. Had the exact same issue on either the first zhp or e30, can't remember. 2 second fix.

Autozone/similar should have a cheapo set (what I did) if you don't want to invest in an odd/infrequent use tool like that.

They are called External Torx sockets Rather than T-10, etc, they go by E-10, E-12, etc.

That is an e-10. Sears has craftsman brand for like 7 bucks.

or a seven-piece set for 35.00.

This seems like a good place to ask --- Are any of your guys's rear doors hard to close? Their swinging action is very rough and requires a decent effort to close them using one fluent motion from when they're about wide open.

It's because they are used less, its just a tight seal.

Would lube of sorts help? The back doors rare get used, so it doesn't bother me that much.. but when I do use them I'm not happy with the effort I need to provide to close them

For what its worth, Harbor Freight has the External Torx socket set for about half the price of sears. Granted it is Harbor Freight but the set I have has taken an E46 apart without problem and some of the toughest bolts. If you are just going to use it every few years for something like a door hinge. They should work just fine.
