Nah, no worries. It's got thousands of miles left on it.

197k I don't believe they've ever been replaced. I could be wrong since I bought it at 120k but im leaning towards these being factory. Already getting close to 2mpg better then I had been.

The whole thing took me less then an hour including running up to local advance and renting the socket to remove them put the new ones in and take the socket back. Didn't have to remove anything else.

I've had codes in the past haven't checked lately as I've still got the ses light for secondary air pump showing.

Good deal.

Amazing the difference they can make in your mpg.

Makes me want to change mine out at 80k.

Hehe, these definitely are crucial for fuel economy.

Mine looked like this, probably original. Old on left, new on right. 208k

Hmm... now that my ZHP is up and running again, I'm going to have to check the mileage... I went from 30 MPG a couple of years ago to 27 MPG for no apparent reason... I just replaced the O2 sensors and the fuel pump

hmm. I also want to change mine just as a peace of mind maintenance item.

How much did they cost you?

And how many o2 sensors do E46's have?

I know my dad's E39 had all 4 oxygen sensors replaced before he bought his car, I would assume the e46 has 4 as well?

They're $50 a piece on Amazon for most E46's, but ZHP's (and all cars with the MS45 DME) have wideband sensors that cost $85 each.

2 pre-cat, 2 post-cat - the post-cat ones are only used for emissions verifications and wouldn't affect mileage at all. Most people only replace them when they actually fail and throw a CEL. Pre-cats are usually changed every 100k as their performance degrades over time.

Fuel filter would be a good one as well. Unless its been done recently.

funny how both Oxygen sesnors in the pics show both extremes one is hot/leaner and the other is richer.

I was going to replace the fuel filter at the same time as the fuel pump but decided F'it I don't feel like laying on the ground in winter getting covered with fuel. I just replaced not too long ago
