View Full Version : Do you prefer black cube or silver cube?

I know it can depend on the interior of the car, but in general, do you like black cube or silver cube better? Please vote. (I voted black, no surprise there).

I voted silver, but it totally depends on the rest of the interior. Case in point Jon's new ZHP. When I saw it last weekend, it had black interior and silver cubes, and I loved it. But now it has NB and black cubes, and I still love it!

^ What all these fine people said. Silver cube for the coupe is not only much more expensive for a coupe than a sedan, but is also rarer. There are tons of folks here who'd LOVE to get their hands on silver cube for their coupes but is way too expensive for them to be able to allow it. Nobody seems to sell silver cube trim for a coupe, so if you don't like it, I'm sure there are plenty of people here who'd love to trade! :)

yep.

Wood trim will cost you under a hundo for your coupe, and you could sell your silver cube for a few hundos. Silver cube just sold on the forum for $450, and that was for the more common sedan. The coupe is probably worth closer to $5 hundo

The vinyl wrap can be bought from here http://www.metrorestyling.com/Default.asp

I used the 3m brushed aluminum in my car, and it only cost me like $60 and I had vinyl left over.. Just use a blow dryer for the corners!

Try over $1k for the coupe silver trim brand new...

I figured it was something outrageous like that, but JKO has used trim. So it won't sell for 1k. At minimum it can sell for $600 since it is used.

cakM3

I think most of the participants are voting on their actual preferences, whether or not owning that trim has an effect doesn't really matter. FWIW I voted for silver although I own black (I've seen both with alcantara in real-life and prefer silver).

az3579
01-21-2013, 02:50 PM
The Imola seats are just... too much, IMO. Way too much red... it's not an "easy on the eyes" kind of red. It's a deep color. The Coral Red in Marc's 135is, for example, is perfect because the red isn't so saturated that it's a nice subtle touch that provides the contrast without straining your eyes. The Imola Red seats in an E46 is very, very powerful. Then again, it's kind of like a love/hate sort of thing, like the Cardinal Red seats in some E30's. Some love it, others hate it.

A very good friend of mine recently dyed his grey nappa interior to imola red and I was amazed by this. After he completed this epic project, I made the trip up to see for myself how well the project turned out and the seats and leather door trim came out perfect! The color in his TiAg was stunning....so much so that I have been contemplating doing the same exact thing but I don't know if it will be worth doing to black nappa. Not meaning to threadjack John...

Something you could potentially do is spray the brand new trim in Clear PlastiDip so it gives it a slightly frosted look while protecting it from everyday use. I think the silver would diffuse the clear and would look almost the same.

If you're hesitant, I plan on trying the clear on the silver to see how it looks.
