View Full Version : Wix 51223 oil filter

After looking at the picture on the Wix site of the 51223 oil filter (Napa 1223) with plastic end caps I decided to check one out. Since Wix makes all of Napas filters I just went there and picked one up. Looks like a better design than the OEM Mann that I had on hand.

I like the idea of the hard plastic end caps.....might be less of a chance of one ever collapsing like I've seen pics of before online. Especially for people like me that park their ZHP for the winter and have that filter just sitting there oil soaked for a few months, or longer. Also the Wix has more pleats than the Mann. Looks like I know what I'll be using from now on. Cost was 7.99 plus tax. A little more expensive maybe but not enough of a difference to worry about in my case since I usually only change my oil 2 or 3 times a year.

For better or worse, my PO used wix the last 60k miles. No issues on my end.

Mahle also has plastic end caps.
