Negatives: This is a 10 year old daily driver, so it is not perfect. Condition is very reasonable IMO. I have spent a lot of time and money improving it. I am noting what I have noticed on the car.
-Wheels could use refinishing
-The sunroof shade is currently off of it's tracks. It's a common e46 problem. (my m3 had the same issue) The sunroof still works perfectly.
-Some rock chips on the front were not fully covered by the airbrushing.
-Minor interior wear. (driver door trim scratches)
-3 door dings.
-Minor wheel wobble- If I have time this week, I'm going to take the car to get the wheels rebalanced
-Swaybars could use new bushings

This is my second e46. I bought it in the fall as a daily driver. My priorities and needs have shifted since then. With the current state of the Govt, I am no longer traveling for work. (90% of the miles put on since I bought the car have been highway) I am also recently single after being a few year serious relationship. I was planning on keeping it as my family car and selling the corvette. As a single (Read: freed) man, I just want to enjoy my sports car. I have probably only driven 200 miles combined total in both cars in the last month since everything changed. Makes no sense for me to keep both when I'm barely driving and could be saving up for a house or something. Feel free to ask me any questions. This car is a ton of fun and the perfect daily driver. I would be happy to take the car for a PPI at your expense.

Lol probably. The ZHP is definitely the best "car" I've ever owned. I will be around. This is a great forum. If it sells, I am bringing the corvette to the reunion. ;) I may just have to park around the corner. I am sure I will be in more bmws eventually. I am still on the lookout for an e30, and I wouldn't mind getting another e46 M3 or an e9x M3 in the foreseeable future.

Sell both and buy an E90 M3... Seriously Cam... Hate to see you sell the ZHP, but I know the power of the Vette is probably much more intoxicating than the not-so-specialness of the ZHP... :rofl

Either way, good luck and definitely don't go anywhere. Corvette at the reunion... Remember, I'm part of the parking team... Corvette, definitely less approved than ZHP... I'm just sayin'! :biggrin

I seem to keep getting the rust question on some of the other forums. I noted that for some very minor surface rust on a few undercarriage components. This is a life long garaged car. I just like to be thorough. There is no frame or bodywork rust at all. Also willing to go ahead and do the brake rotors and pads for the right sale price. They aren't really needed until this fall or possibly even the spring depending on how you drive.

:facepalm Everyone always drops off right before seeing the car. 2 more buyers disappeared over the weekend. Good news is that my cooling system refresh parts will be in by the beginning of next week. Going to go ahead and knock that and the diff bushing out. Future owner (if I don't just keep it) will have a problem free car.

That's a bummer. Hope it works out for you. I basically get one or two total potential buyers with every bump cycle (on all of the forums/CL). Maybe I should just bite the bullet and list it on autotrader too. We'll see if the refreshed cooling system brings some changes. It's working fine, but that seems to be the holy grail for buying a used BMW. Seems to be moving to lower and lower required mileages. :rofl I swear that 115k used to be the norm when I first got into bmws a few years ago. You hear about 75-100k all of the time now. Oh well. Looks so good. Mmmmm. That alcantara's condition is so :drool

Do you have the stock wheels? I think that may be a factor of some of the loss of interest. When I was looking for my ZHP, I only looked at ones that had the 135's - no matter the condition of the car itself. I know it sounds unreasonable (and it is), but I think a lot of buyers may have the same mentality when purchasing ZHPs.

Thanks. Love the fresh alcantara. Makes we want to recover the rest of the car (even though it's all in good condition) Yeah. I've heard that before. I wouldn't mind trading my wheels for stockers, but I don't want to go out and buy a second set of wheels.

Might as well add an s54 and fender flares while I'm at it. ;) You don't like my fancy 2$ dog tag air freshener? It goes with the car, free of charge. Lol. It was the only non-flower scented thing I could find at the store a few weeks ago.

Lol. Yeah. I got a notice that my lease ends at the end of Sept instead of the end of Oct, so I'm in decision mode. I would have to part out the vette at this point to get close to getting my money back with 14 months of ownership. Besides, it is both more fun and more reliable the the zhp. Gets better mpg hwy too. :rofl

Updated with a current list of problems and changed some of the pics around. Basically all of which appeared on Sunday. :facepalm I'm working on all of them though and will hopefully get all of them taken care of shortly. Car is going to have a ton of new parts when all is said and done.

I do have a lead on some oem wheels. May be doing a trade this weekend.

Figured out my problem. Quarter size hole in the bottom of my upper intake boot. Can't remember why I just did the lower... :facepalm #noob

I should probably go ahead and take off the lower, clean the throttle body and check the disa again, right? Because of any dust getting in? (I did all of the above in either January or February)

Edit: Temporarily covered the hole with duct tape until I can pick up the part at 8:30 tomorrow morning. Idle normal. Clutch chatter gone completely. (apparently the oem lightweight flywheel doesn't like low rpms in nuetral) Car sounds normal again. Phew.

So the hole in the upper intake boot, and lean condition were what caused your clutch to chatter? Did you have an associated SES light (or code?)? Forgive me as I don't remember the exact scenario.

Correct. The clutch would chatter when the rpms would dip from around 1k to 500/600ish upon cold startup at idle. It happened for the first time on Sunday. I have only driven it twice since so I could get it back home. Chatter occurred both times. Rev the engine or push in the clutch and the chatter would disappear. Now it's perfect again. I have heard of other stock zhps chattering too.

I had 8 codes pop. 6 misfires and 2 lean bank codes. Once I saw the hole, I had no doubt that they were from the intake boot. I got the same codes months ago before I replaced the lower boot. (it wasn't big enough to mess up the idle though)

Woah, this sounds familiar. Does the clutch only "chatter" when engaging? I have a similar thing; when I engage at low RPMs (500-700), clutch kinda vibrates. I've simply been engaging a little higher as a result.

Could this be the same thing for me? Car is from New Mexico; hot as hell. Could be dried boots. Or was your issue different?

Torxuvin

Interesting. Mine was only doing it when the car hit those rpms with the clutch engaged (ie. fully extended up with foot not on it) in nuetral. I don't think it's a function of a clutch problem as much as it is a lightweight flywheel at low rpms. By engaging at that low of an rpm, you could be bogging down the engine as well. Are you getting any other symptoms?

You could have dried boots, but it's not directly related to the clutch itself.

Johal E32
07-25-2013, 05:48 PM
clutch chatter when taking off in first is normal. You can give it more gas and slip the clutch more when you take off or just deal with it. I have a recent clutch and flywheel and my car chatters when I take off from a stand still in first.

When the clutch/flywheel chatter in neutral.. That's different. For Torxuvin the issue was his intake boot, normally it would mean you have some sort of clutch issue.

Torxuvin
07-26-2013, 12:23 PM
Got the new upper intake boot installed today. Also got most of the way through the cooling system refresh before I found out that the gave me the wrong water pump. Hopefully I'll get it exchanged for the right one tomorrow and put the car back together.

Officially Sold. Just checked my online banking. Loan balance=0.00$. New owner to drop off the remainder and pick up the car on Wednesday. Could not be happier for him. Going to a great home. Will try to get him on the site.

Definitely. I'm excited about the trip. Could be your only chance. ;) I think I may have some other plans for what I'll be driving by reunion time. :shifty Depends on how much saving I can do.
