Is there a Pay It Forward thread on here somewhere? It was a cool idea on one of the older forums I used to frequent... I was thinking about starting one (hopefully it would be a great 'sticky' thread), since we're so close and well, I appreciate the Mafia! :mafia Plus it'll be a great way to empty the garage too...

The principle is simple, a user places FREE items on a first-come-first-serve basis (can be ZHP related or not? I'll let the mods decide that one). No priced items are allowed. "Buyer" simply responds to the thread calling "dibs" and pays the shipping. Once the item is received, it is encouraged that the buyer puts something else up for grabs (thus "paying it forward", especially before they grab another item - the latter is kind of a unspoken rule). Of course, it is not necessary to place up another item - users are free to do as they please and should never feel pressured to do so. Participants do not have to have received anything prior to post an item they want to pass forward. The thread is of course guilt free. If you choose to participate, do not go in expecting something in return - you are there to graciously part with items in the hopes that they find a better home. Do not expect an "equal" value item to be paid forward. Actually, it's best to not have any expectations... Just have fun!

Sounds simple? Yes it is, especially with the maturity of this group. I have an item being sent to me, which will be arriving next week and would love to pay it forward. :cheers

Cool! Looks like there's some interest. I'll post up a dedicated Pay It Forward thread Tuesday in the classified parts section if that's ok... I know there won't be any prices so I would be bending the rules a bit. Mods let me know.

Long live the mafia!

How it works:
The principle is simple, a user places FREE items on a first-come-first-serve basis. No priced items are allowed. To claim an item, the "Buyer" simply responds to the thread and pays the shipping. Once the item is received, it is encouraged that the buyer puts something else up for grabs (thus "paying it forward", especially before they grab another item - the latter is kind of a unspoken rule). Do not flip items for profit (the Mafia WILL hunt you down!), if you cannot use it simply do not claim it to pass it to another member who can - there will be plenty of other items.

Of course, there is no time limit to place up another item after receiving one - users are free to do as they please and should never feel pressured to do so. Anyone can post up free items on this thread. If you choose to participate, do not go in expecting something in return - you are here only to graciously part with items in the hopes that they find a better home. Do not expect an "equal" value item to be paid forward. Do not expect members to treat you with preferential treatment, do not use this as leverage for favors. This is a giving thread, not one to request items. I know it's tempting, but it can be viewed as pressuring others to give items away instead of selling them (also it can make it especially awkward if someone here is already selling said item). Just be your friendly selves.

Most importantly, I do not want this thread to become a thorn in anyone's sides - especially the mods. They should never have to intervene and "solve" things; be it within this thread or relating to it (shipping, etc...).

One last thing. If you insist on giving me/anyone compensation for any item, simply donate to this site the value you had in mind (mods insert ZHPmafia donation link/contact - *DISCLAIMER* I'm not even sure if ZHPmafia accepts donations so let me know). Ok, with all of that out of the way let the happiness begin!

First item:

EDIT: ****IMPORTANT**** changed Free item to lighter silver trim piece. I'll take more pics, but I didn't realize it had a broken tab as well. RockyWoody meant to replace the trim over the LCM (which has a broken tab) and "accidentally" bought this one instead. So I assumed both of these over-the-radio trim pieces had their tabs - I was wrong. I went ahead and converted everything to silver using the darker trim piece since I had to.

You all have RockyWoody to thank. He gave me an extra silver trim piece!

The one up for grabs is on bottom and has one very minor imperfection (a scratch on the bottom edge near the middle - not noticeable if installed).

Added pic of minor imperfection here... It actually seems like some black residue attached to it, like black hot glue or something - I couldn't rub it off but it doesn't affect anything, nor would it be visible once installed:

those bmwp mufflers use different tip setup but the internals have been proven to be the same - more importantly, they sound identical

please do not spend money to "samegrade"

Do they do emissions testing up there where the car is registered?

Do you plan to install cats (hi flo or not) post headers?

headers make the car quite raspy (although, with headers and hiflo cats - the stock zhp muffler and the Rogue sounds GREAT, but still raspy)

If you do not install cats then the car will be very raspy, you will smell unburnt fuel each time you come to a light, stop sign, etc

If it wasn't for the stage III SC needing the extra flow from headers; I would swap the OEM manifolds back in for the sake of a little quiet

Even my current setup is loud - Supersprint headers into OEM euro M3 cats into OEM euro midpipes and finally into AA Gen 6 rear muffler

Stigissimo
04-30-2013, 07:00 PM
Yeah I'd probably install cats. Pretty sure they do emissions in MA, at least I'd assume. I haven't really given it exhaust much thought - it's way in the future and I have a laundry list of stuff I have to do before I even consider it haha

Eventually I will. As for now it's easy stuff like fluid changes and headlights/side view mirrors. But when I get into other stuff I may need help down the road. I'll letchca know. I'll be creating a build thread when I get home. Most changes would be subtle - I still don't even know what I want to do yet. I just know that super overtly modded really isn't my style.

Another item up for grabs:

4GB micro SD card with Sygic Aura 12.1.0 software + USA maps on it. Refer to YouTube vids for reference. If you have a dynavin clone (or dynavin?) simply load this baby in your slot and you'll be good to go. I purchased a 16 GB Class 10 card, so this is now obsolete (Being in WA I want the entire USA and Canada at least!). Let me know what states you plan on never visiting since 4GB cannot hold the entire country and I'll adjust accordingly. Shipping is on me since it'll be a stamp or two. Haha.

Thanks. What did you replace it with? Does it speed up/smooth out the navigation? I've been reading up on how to achieve less lag on the screen. So far:

1) Display less POI on map (also remove 3D buildings)
2) Faster SD card (*may make a difference)
3) Ensure you have the latest software (*may make a difference)

Oh, for those with the annoying random screen start-ups I feel your pain. I'm going to record my actions to see if anything triggers this (using canbus, not shutting down radio before turning off ignition, etc...).

I just spent about two hours going through a couple of my storage areas in the garage and basement. Here are some items I am bringing to give away:

ZHP 330 M54 MS45.1 alternator with 44k miles (a little dirty but known good - came from donor car for my TS3 build)
used oem airbox - scratched but could be painted
used oem airbox covered in CF
rear bumper center rub strip - painted in bmw solid black unischwarz - NON PDC
brand new MAF
OEM rear diffuser - good shape - maybe use it to replace a faded one or use this to paint custom
set of engine covers - oem, decent shape except some rubbing marks where a strut brace rubbed on the fuel rail cover (a plight of taller injectors in TS setup)
nearly new valve cover with brand new gaskets - I chipped the VC and bought a new one when I was tracing a lean mixture issue...wasted my money there

A pair of new outer rear control arm bushings

the upper steering wheel trim with the cruise/stereo buttons - great shape

AND - a brand new, never used oil drain/change container - it came with my lift and I will never use it

330i ZHP
05-16-2013, 09:28 PM
oh, and a parking brake cable - maybe one of you from the great white salty rust belt might want/need it

an oem oil filter cover - I have a VAC cover (thanks Jon E for making me have to have something I didn't even know about)

and a couple sets of led angel eyes from jlevi - I will never use them (one set looks like I had it installed at some point)

hand brake boot - black leather (not alcantara)

center console and black leather armrest - in good shape, cup holder, coin holder

As for stuff I'll be taking down I have side airbags, front license plate bracket, thermostat control (old version), oil filters and anything thing else on my parts selling thread that anyone else is interested in. Limited space for stuff in my car now.

Many thanks. Yeah. It was an experience. The retaining bolts on both sides were rusted to the old rotors. (I think they were original) We found some creative solutions to remove them. :Facepalm I have really benefited this weekend from the family. Also received fog surrounds, mirror glass, headlight cover, led bulbs, K&N filter, cf airbox cover. The little things all make such a big difference. I'm pretty happy with her right now.

I have some things to contribute
-OEM wiper blades. (will need new inserts)
-Sunglass holder/ashtray piece from center console. Could use some refinishing (I would just plastidip it if it were me.)
-Blue Led Angel eye rings. Just the rings. I don't have the rest of the kit. They are pull-me-over blue. For the brave
-E46 M3 belts (New)
-E46 M3 pulleys (70k miles)
-E46 M3 Fcabs (48k miles)
-HK Sub from e46 M3 Convertible
-E46 M3 Front bumper reflectors (TiAg- Have a few chips along the edges)

No worries bud... Devlin is scoping out local price at the dealer with a discount. If less than a dollar each, I'll have him pick up 4 extra and we'll get them up to you. Otherwise, ECS has them for $1 each and like $9 shipping.

I have a brand new windshield wiper nozzle grill. The piece that goes on the hood that the wiper nozzles go on. The OEM BMW part says primer'd and is all grey, and still in the OEM wrapping bag. I ordered it by accident. Would be great for someone that wants to paint theirs to match the hood. I'll try to find the part number in little bit.

Only problem is, I won't be back home in AZ to ship it till Friday afternoon. Sorry

I would like these. Don't have a slim 32mm yet.

I haven't seen my snap on dealer in a few weeks, but I will ask if the older style techwrench can be retrofitted with the new handle. If so, I'll check back in here with it. All it needs is a recal.

I'll PM you when I have a sec to get shipping estimate.

No way CA would let you get away with that one nowadays. The scan for anything close to that and you also have to tell them what it means when you apply for the plate (and of course, they can accept/believe or reject/deny for any reason).

As for the plate trading... I've got a couple in my garage and have a regular Florida one that I'd be willing to trade.

Perhaps, I honestly don't remember. But, now that you mention it, I remember telling you they were yours if you want them when we hung out... So, go pull your tail lights and check, if they fit, you can have them.

My turn sockets were 1156/7506 on the stock bulb carriers. When I received my euro lights they came with carriers that had 1157/7507.
You most likely have 1156, I would think...
