Funny how the gray dash actually starts out as black.
Wow, way to go!
It is but at least I got it swapped out fairly quickly :) It wasn't really that hard to do...just time consuming, that's all...

Thanks BP! Got a lot done today but my back has had enough for this weekend. I'll be looking to continue this project over next weekend. Lots of little things to do at this point. The major stuff regarding this retrofit has been done today.....thanks for your help BP! :thumbsup

I processed a few pics from today's project...just thought I would share with everyone....it was hard work but having another person there to help really made the difference since items I have removed/replaced would have been difficult to do by myself due to the size. Glad BP was there to give a hand :thumbsup
This was at the beginning where BP and I removed the A-pillar cover before removing the dash...

To facilitate removing the dash easier, it is best to remove the steering wheel, clock ring, and turn signal stalks.....there are 4 screws to keep track of so when you install them you won't be busy looking for them...;)

BP and I finally removed the dash and I got a little excited when I first saw this....hence the fuzziness in the pic but you guys/gals get the picture ;)

This is the first time since the ///M was built in Germany this has been fully exposed :)

Old carpets were finally taken out....gonna get rid of the grey finally! :)

While vacuuming out the exposed decking I did manage to find a dime....I was amazed by how much Styrofoam was used...
Black carpeting was then placed where the grey used to be.....much happier now :biggrin

Here's another view of the carpeting....

Always nice to have a little persuader handy for those stubborn fittings...;) Here's Thor...

Giya was right about the dash being painted....I wonder what type of paint BMW uses here?

Well, that's it for now. I have more work to do and plan to get more progress tomorrow after getting a good night's rest. I was amazed by just how much I remembered when I took everything apart. The key folks is to take your time, have a plan on how you're going about things, and have plenty of zip lock bags for all the screws you're gonna take out....That's it. Overall I would say this project has been easy although I have done this once before while helping a good friend tear apart his ///M when he dyed his grey interior Imola Red. Helping him laid the ground work for my project I started today :)
Also started installing my OEM CSL door cards....they look perfect in my ///M :)
