It really wasn't bad. i'd read all the horror stories about pulling the intake manifold and William and I came away scratching our heads wondering what the issues were.

Don't hold your breath. We've discussed it before, first mention I could quickly find was 2 years ago:

Changed out both front wheel bearings and an idler pulley. Bearings looked and felt good when I pulled them, but at just shy of 136k with factory units, I figure this can fall under PM at this point.
Installed DDM 5000k 55 watt hid kit in the e30 low beams... all I can say is wow!
Sweet
I too had my CCV replaced today after it froze up twice in 2 weeks almost blowing up my valve cover. The guy was a pro and took 4 hours to do the job, while pulling the manifold. What a garbage system; I cut it up at the junction of the two circle pieces - mayo everywhere. What a difference in crankcase pressure and exhaust no longer smells like 0W40. I'm seeing significantly improved MPG as well.
Old CCV was stamped 2006 - not sure how it lasted so long in the winters we have here. PO claimed it had been done in 2011 :facepalm
