I cut a hole in the forward drivers side corner of the box slightly smaller than the hose. It was more in the side of the box than the bottom. First put the hose in the brake duct, pulled the excess up through the air box as I pushed it down into position then trimmed the excess from inside the box and cleaned it out before putting the filter back in. With the effort I used in pushing the hose into the duct and air box. I didn't see a need for anything else to secure it.

The Indy installed CABs, lower ball joints, and stabilizer bar bushings on my 2005 Mini Cooper with 138,000 miles. What a difference ! Very happy with the results. My wife agrees this is a day and night driving experience. We plan to drive the Mini more often ! :thumbsup

Probably burn out the pump and wear the rack faster. You can run the system without the pump but I believe people who do that fill the rack with fluid and cap the ports so it's still lubricated inside. Then they delete their PS pump (or at least the pulley) so it's not spinning at all. I thought about just filling the fluid and driving home with the leak, but the AutoX co-chair correctly observed it was spurting fluid pretty quickly.
If I'd had some block-off plugs (14mm or 16mm, not sure which) and a shorter serpentine belt, I guess I could have bypassed power steering right there at the airport and driven home like that.
