Lookin' Good.
Hah! George is parked on the street with the Mazda gathering leaves. We just got the touring back a few weeks ago and I had forgotten how good that car looks. Makes me wanna find a zhp drivetrain and no...no...just no.
The poor guy at the transmission shop had the car for three months, over which he pulled and resealed the transmission three times. Ended up replacing the torque converter, pump, and casing (!) and, after all that, charged me just $400 for parts.
He's a top notch dude who will definitely be doing whatever work I can't/don't want to DIY in the future, like the clutch in the red car or bushings that need to be pressed.
wow. that is good customer service... rare these days. good to hear! so is the wife DDing the Touring now?
i hear you on the ZHP drivetrain thoughts. avoid... you've already got your ZHP. however, if the motor goes... well, that's a different story. :) i also went a little overboard on some things. like wire-wheeling every nut and bolt i removed, and if it wasn't usable, going through my fastener collection until i found one that was. stupidly time-consuming.
Yep, it's her car. I'm just on the hook for keeping it working. I still need to get under it and check for leaks -- the guy put a dye in the ATF so that I can root around with a UV light and know for sure if it's coming from the transmission.

I guess if you're doing it once you better do it right.
Because you're never doing something like this again.
Seriously.
We promised your wife.
