Gearing up for brake and power steering fluid changes for the ZHP and the CRV. I almost fell for a $103 kit from ECS, but the wrench isn't the right size, catch cans can be made from plastic tubing and old OJ bottles and the pressurized fluid container can be replaced by the better half in the drivers seat with a 2x4 or two behind the brake pedal. I did buy a 9mm bleeder wrench from eBay for the ZHP. I need to check the CRV to see what size it is, I couldn't find it online. This is being brought on by recently replacing the front disc's and pads on the CRV and seeing some really dirty fluid. I haven't looked at the ZHP's, but I know it hasn't been changed since going out of extended maintenance, so it is way beyond due.
Very nice. Has the actual P/S reservoir been replaced, if not, want to to look into that as well as it has a built in filter. Also, what year is your CRV?Quote:

The ZHP, and I don't think it makes THAT big of a difference if the fluid is being changed regularly (but it can't hurt). If you are using a Premium ATF fluid, like Redline D4 ATF, I wouldn't worry about it now. Maybe later on down the road. It isn't mentioned in Mike Miller's Old School Guide, he just recommends the fluid every 30k.Quote:

Gotcha, thanks for the additional info, I'll check into it. Neither pumps are making any noises, its just on my list of things to do. If its ever been changed, it was changed at the dealer while still under normal or extended maintenance. I think that ended in 2009. We love the CRV too, better half purchased it new before we met. We were considering a 2015, but while we appreciate the new tech and safety features there are a few things its lacking that our 2007 has that have made it a deal-breaker. No car payments is nice too. Maybe the 5th gen will be worth another look, but rumor is the next Tiguan will have 3-rows, I hope the CRV doesn't go that route or else we will have to look at an RDX or some other alternative.Quote:
