I did consider blasting and powdercoating it but I don't know if I care that much. I might get another one and weld on a side pod like how the E30 pan is. I would've just used the E30 pan but it doesn't clear left frame rail

AIT Relocation Kit for the ///M. This mod moved the sensor down into the air filter box to keep it from getting heat soaked. I did this to mine and it was a noticeable difference. The intake air temp reads closer to the actual outside temp with this also.

You can do this with the earlier ms43 and ms42 cars as well. On the ms45.1 (ZHP DME) there isn't an option as the ait is part of the maf

Why did you have to buy a new sensor?

I think I met this motor earlier today. So much drool at Carls shop. Saw this familiar e21 there too.

Stuart- was doing some reading about MS43, 42 et. al. How can I tell which one my car is? is there an easy identification trick?

Yeah, You have a ZHP so you have MS45.1. Easy :)

BTW-went back and read your Build thread a last week...That was some fun trip you took getting your ZHP brother. I seems to me you have quite a bit of knowledge about the software in our cars. I love reading everyone's story of how their cars came to be in their lives. Good stuff!
