Very true.

"ZHP is a garbage option anyway- just some cosmetic upgrades with a different cam and diff to claw back some of the performance lost fitting those hideous and heavy wheels. Any 330 with a 3.46 diff will smoke a ZHP every time. The whole Mafia thing reeks of childish behavior." - anonymous
installed my Style 68s on saturday. forecast looks good and i am anxious. total time snow tires were on = 7 weeks and 5 days. shortest season in recorded history!! :)
Any pictures? Want to see how "low" your car sits
OE E46 Sport package sizes too. :)
i'm running those sizes on the Style 68s now, tires are michelin pilot sport AS3's. they're decent tires. fronts have 6/32" left but the rears are down to 3/32" - hence the new set of PSS. :) will wear these AS3's out by may i assume - tail wagging seems to be the daily special around here lately... :cheers
here ya go, vas. the front is adjusted as high as it can go. seems low to me. rear is a tad lower than stock, maybe 10mm.
and the car is dirty. reeeeeal dirty.
Still looks good being dirty.
As far as the height, I think it is fine and the wheel gap is even between the front and rear.
But when you compare the front now to stock, it is much lower.
yeah, i wanted it a little bit lower in the front, but not this low. whatever. it is what it is. :)
one interesting thing to note today - i swapped my 10mm spacers in the back for 12.5mm spacers (installed in the pics above), and i can actually feel the 5mm of extra width back there when driving. the car is less neutral (more understeery) - it's a small difference, but still there. crazy.
going back to the 10's. :)
Wow. Who'd a thunk it...?

joined the GB for some of this goodness. :)
:cheers

Those things look good! I was very tempted to join that GB as well...
there's still time! and it has already reached $200 off + free shipping - go for it! these suckers are 18.4lbs each - that's almost 2lbs lighter than my 17" Style 68s! woohoo!
Nice! I'm sure you'll love them. Are you going with a square setup or staggered?
EDIT: I thought Style 68s were closer to 21 and 22 lbs front/rear.
they're about 20.5lbs front, 21lbs rear. on my scale anyway...
yep, square setup - 18x8.5 ET38.
i considered going 18x8.5 ET38 and 18x9 ET42, but that's effectively ET36 for an 8.5" wheel, which with a 255/35/18 tire at my camber settings, would rub - badly. so i'm going square with a 235/40/18 tire. might try out some koni yellows and stock springs with them, too... :ninja
Giving up on your PSSs?
What doesn't she like about them?

Just on the tires? Or suspension?

How did you get on board with the group buy? It's closed...
This is the one I'm thinking of:

suspension. i'm running 17" michelin PS AS3's, they ride nicely. it's gotta be the bilstein PSS. i removed the front bilsteins tonight and disassembled them, cleaned everything, and checked the dampers - they are operating correctly, all looked normal. my top mounts (OE) have a slight tear starting, nothing major - but i need to replace them, and i am wondering if they are causing tracking issues. i also unbolted the rear shocks and tested - all good. everything else is tight.
there's a new group buy for 18" wheels. that one is for 17" wheels.

Thanks. Thought the PSS was Pilot Super Sports, not shock model.

If you decide to let those PSS go, I can give them a loving home.
;)
got a little update on them, actually - i upped my tire pressures to 40psi F/R (was at 33/39) on these 225/45/17 and 245/40/17 michelin PS AS3's - and quite shockingly it feels a LOT better. bobbing is gone, it just feels smooth and planted. very weird. i was running 33/39 last december when i put them on with the bilstein PSS initially and they felt just like they do now... what the heck!
anyway, i guess that's the deal. these tires must have softer sidewalls than i thought.
nope. but i'm sure they'll have another group buy soon, they have been wildly successful.
now... the next debate - tires for my new 18" ARC-8s. i'm either ordering a new set of michelin PSS in 235/40/18, or i found a set of 600-mile goodyear eagle F1 asymmetric 2's in 235/40/18 for $550 CAD. the PSS are supposed to be crisper, but they are almost twice the cost (in CAD). hmmm.
well, crap. radiator developed a pinhole leak right near the upper hose neck. and i have a roadtrip for work on tuesday...
trying to order a new OEM BMW (Modine) radiator today. i didn't replace it during the cooling system refresh back in 2014, so the current unit is original - almost 12 years old. getting a new OEM BMW rad, especially in canada, is going to be expensive.
replacing strut mounts today as well.
Hope you get it figured out and replaced without overpaying.
That's unfortunate. I am about to hit 100k miles and am thinking about ordering the cooling system kit so I can be prepared if it goes bad. Haven't decided if I'm going to order the radiator with it. Or if I should just replace the radiator and wait on the cooling system.
Can you patch it temporarily? I know not the most reliable. Not sure if there's a such thing.
thanks vas. got a new OEM BMW (Modine) radiator ordered through my local (2hrs away!) dealer, total with tax and delivery (should be here tomorrow) was $411CAD ($317USD at today's rates; ECS sells this same unit for $240USD + shipping, so i don't think i did too badly, especially considering my price was $265USD before tax and shipping - tax here is 13%!).
my car now has 140K miles, so on the original radiator i guess is OK. i've only had to replace a radiator on one car before (out of the 30 i've had, crazy!), and i did it TWICE! it was my 1996 audi S6. the original radiator finally cracked at 490K KMs (around 302K miles). i replaced it with a nissens unit, which decided to grenade one of it's endtanks about 10K later. got another from them under warranty and it was fine - it looked like a redesigned unit.
i would definitely replace everything in the cooling system, including the radiator, for peace of mind - the behr units are only $140USD, that's cheap. the cooling system on this car is ridiculously easy to service. i love it!
well, it wasn't too expensive - see above. the important part is i can have an OEM BMW radiator here tomorrow, which i am happy to pay extra for, as i need it ASAP.
i thought about patching it, but i have to go to ottawa on tuesday and that's 2.75hrs each way. i hate getting towed. just going to replace it and not worry about it. :)
