Arc8update!
So I got home Thursday night and found some THICC hoes by my garage...and the 18x9.5 wheels were hella wide too ayooo
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...edf71d43a0.jpg
Nah but for real I was like damn how I gonna fit these bitties I ain't even kno
Turns out my local shop was open on Friday while I was off, but their bays were full, so they could swap my tires over if I brought the wheels in loose. So I washed the whip, snagged one last pic with the Alzors, and got her up on the quickjack so I could gank her shoes.

Then called in the touring:
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ddda94a518.jpg
Got the wheels back that afternoon and was like damn. Like. Those 235s are ridic wide.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...46bda45aa9.jpg
Here they are lined up for a comparo. Left is 235/40 on 18x9.5, right is 255/35 on 18x8.5. Coopers ftw.

Test mounted and we good to go!
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1c9effff72.jpg
BUT WAIT
Everything gotta get coated first.
I washed the wheels real good like and left em overnight to dry. Got up early Saturday morning and set up a work station to apply Optimum Gloss Coat to every surface of the wheels and the center caps.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...789e862379.jpg
Brake dust got nothing. On. Me.
BUT WAIT
I have 24 hours for the coating to cure and these wheel bolts are hot garbage. Can't have them looking all janky on my shiny new wheels! I thought about buying new ones, but tryna live that reduce/reuse/recycle lyfe, so....
LET'S REFINISH SOME WHEEL BOLTS
Chucked all 20 of them little buggers up in a drill and worked a wire brush all up in their nooks and crannies.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...2ad4200654.jpg
Plugged them into a cardboard box for a couple coats of paint and left them for the day to dry.

You have a soft touch/coated 17mm socket?
Man, I need to do that to my wheel hardware....
And the finished goods:https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...8efe89330e.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...88541310b5.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...038e9e1eda.jpg
The suspension hadn't settled yet, but damn girl
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...1a4b09dace.jpg
hot dang, those look the business!
and frig man, nice work on the coating and the wheel bolts... your Professional Engineer Brain has ideas and patience that mine can't match.
oh, and i loved the shot of the Touring swallowing up 8 wheels and 4 tires. :)
I same-day-ed this bad boy Saturday morning. The paint on the bolts wasn't fully cured, so I used a plastic bag in the socket to keep from marring em up too bad. They still took some damage when being torqued down, but whatevs. I wasn't about to wait 5 days to mount my wheels just so some stupid paint can harden up.
ye u do
they squat
hah! It worked out since I had a lot of down time. Was going out with friends Saturday, so I did the coating that morning since they would have time to cure. Then painted the bolts Sunday morning before leaving for the day to see family and put it everything together Sunday night. Just worked in the steps where I could.
The touring shot was totes for you, Peterman. I laid out all of the wheels/tires and was like....I...I just don't know how I'm going to fit this in that little car...
Then I got going and realized it had TONS of room. Like, I could have easily fit another set of wheels and the dogs in there.
Now as far as fitment goes, I had some concerns with the 18x9.5 et35. So much so that I busted out the grinder to cut down the plastic extrustion on the rear fender liners along with the stud for the fender clip.
You can see where the tire rub had already worn it down when I had spacers in the rear:
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...4eda2931b8.jpg
Grounded:
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...294bed0962.jpg
Turns out the rear fitment isn't all that aggressive. I still need to hit some dips with a full tank of gas, but it looks ok for now:
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...b88f6406d6.jpg
The front is pretty dang pushed out though:
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...51f6efc949.jpg
Just need another 3° of camber and #stancenation
Damn, looking at those pics is a relief for me... I just bought Apex SM-10 18X9.5 ET 35 for the rear and was ready to send them back unopened after staring at my at my current 9.0 ET 35 rear wheel clearance...
I love the way that looks, awesome job. So clean!! Do you have Z4M bushings? I thought ET35 was a perfect fit on E46’s. I just ordered some wheels and decided not to go ET35 knowing the bushings lush the hubs out
I can't wait to compare arc8 fitments. Tow your car up into town?
What size tire are you wanting to run and how wide is the tread? I only had light rubbing with my 235/40r18's on 9" wide wheels, but that was with a spacer that pushed it to et32. There may be more room in the rear on coupies tho.
Thanks man. I have the OE bushings. I also don't think that the Z4 ones would play well with my taller, pushed out tires.
Uhh, sorry dawg.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...16df22af4.jpeg
Dayum Pizza, those wheels look sick AF!
ARC8's have always been the dream wheels for me. Maybe someday when I have some $$$ saved up and we have full-on trade wars going on so that the CAD doesn't suck as much as it does now. :)
I haven’t heard “Bingo Bango Bongo” in so long I thought it was 1998.
Good update. One problem tho: where are your spinnaz/sittaz?

Dem wheel bolts do'
the Z4M bushings push the front hubs forward, not out. it would not have an affect on wheel offset.
oh ya... definitely. it's cavernous. have you unlocked the hidden storage under the rear seat? easter egg...
thanks for the pic. i love the "let's just see what the Touring can do today..." pics. :) i take a whole bunch that i never post, LOL.
looks like you've been rubbing on the very top inside lip of the fender too.... might want to roll that sucker a tiny bit. i'm doing mine this spring.
oh, and you're missing a fastener there? liner-to-bumper. should be a coarse-thread M8 with a big washer.
I think you'll be fine since you're going from et35 to et35, the position of the tire won't change. You'll just be pushing the point where the sidewall and wheel meet out by 0.25in. The tread will retain the same width and position.
Here's the same wheels on a sedan, but with some wide 235/40's like I have. They're taller than your 255/35's, so more likely to rub.
lol just wait like two years until the US is a post apocalyptic wasteland. The CAD will be a lot stronger then.
Man, 1998 was a great year for music. Take a trip back through these hot bitties.
aye
Dang that does look like paint rubbed off huh? Couldn't see that angle when I was grinding. That rubbing was with spacers that put the rear at et32, so I'm probably fine now...but the front is so pushed out that I might try to add a spacer in the rear down the road. Roll tide?
And the missing fastener confuses the hell out of me. It's like that on both sides and when I shine a light in there I see nothing behind the fender liner. No threads/panel/etc. Any other coupie bois noticed this?
Also snagged a pic for @slater last night when I noticed the lights in this parking lot were making that pinstripe POP
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...09645a6780.jpg
Thanks for the link... I forgot about that guy...
He cut out his rear fender liners... something I'd be willing to try if I have to but he never posted pics of it...
EDIT: looks like those wheels are fitting nicely under your fenders... Is it the picture angle or are your tires slightly stretched on those wheels...
Theyre only slightly stretched. Just enough for the wheel to touch if I lay them down. Here is a better pic. I may actually put a small (3mm) spacer back there.
https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...d6168cd688.jpg
I’m rubber on rubber on my 17x8.5” with ExtremeContact DW 245/40R17s. But that’s a lot less stretch (see: no stretch) than yours.

heck yeah - as trevor mentioned, that is definitely Alpina-esque. ;) haha.
man, those fronts are pokey! some megative camber is required, fo sho.
i run a 3mm spacer in the rear with my apexeseses.
maybe a bit too much stretchy for me. i think if it was sitting lower it would look better, in my eyes. but that ride! gotta preserve that.
Looking at the pics, I think it may have a lot to do with the Apex design. The lip follows the angle of the spokes and pushes out:

http://www.myapexparts.com/wp-conten...8-Profiles.jpg
It's funny -- going from the 9.0 width to 9.5, I can feel how the sidewall has stiffened with the additional stretch. The handling is more responsive, but impacts are harsher. I may go a little wider with the next set of tires, but I'm ok with the trade off for now since we are driving the wagon more on trips so I'm almost always alone and hooning when driving this car.
The fender hanger clip? It's on both sides. I had just removed it in the first pic. I flattened it out a bit with a hammer to give more clearance, then reinstalled it, then ground the stud all the way down to the nut.
so when does the LSD go in? :)
it amplifies hoonage by at least 150%.
but that's probably a bad thing.
nice. on northern cars... you just leave that nut alone. sure, you can grind the stud down... but you don't touch the nut. i think i have successfully removed 3 out of maybe 8 that i've removed. the other 5 were lonely and brought the stud with them.
Love love the new kicks! I think they look mighty better than the previous set. Excellent choice Pizzaman.
Man...I'm thinking more and more about an LSD now...the only thing I'm worried about (other than the cost) is gear whine. I know yours is pretty loud but that's probably more due to the solid mounts everywhere.
And the paint underneath my Florida car is in better condition than the roof.
Dude...they really...like...really really make the pinstripe pop. No joke.
It's going to take some time to get used to the fronts sticking out so much, but I'm loving the profile view so far.
I have an M3 clutch style LSD. Just put in AKG 95A diff bushings. Everything else back there is OEM except for M3 OEM RTAB and limiters. No gear whine at all
