I decided to play with my new camera this morning after work. Still getting used to it.

Sadly no pic of the X5
Yeah there is. Today was my first day out with the new camera and I'm still getting used to it. My most recent SLR is a 35mm and very old so I'm adapting to the new digital. For those pictures I left the dynamic range on. So I'll be toying with tne individual modes and settings to obtain better quality.
Sent from a blue police box.
I find lowering the "dynamic range" settings to the lowest setting or OFF helps reduce noise in the shadows. Deal with shadows in post later if needed.
Another pic taken this afternoon after running some errands. Still playing with the settings.

Is that image straight out of the camera?
I can definitely tell it's in HDR mode. Surprisingly strong for an in-camera mode.
Do you know how it works? I'm thinking it shoots RAW and does the tone maping in camera.
Actually it doesn't have raw capability. That was just a quick shot left in intelligent mode. Here are the specs. https://docs.sony.com/release/specs/DSCHX1_mksp.pdf
If it was HDR the tree would most likely be lighter/have more visible detail. But that is different than DR - I believe dynamic range boosts ISO to get more details out of the darker spots in the photo as oppose to multiple exposures. As for noise, you might also try setting it to M (manual mode - if it has it) and then turning the ISO down and the shutter speed slightly to compensate.
Haha well I hope I can produce some positive results. I was really big into photography growing up but it's been years since I have done anything serious and my last serious camera was an old film slr. God I still have all my old equipment somewhere lol. Just getting used to the digital is.... Interesting.
Finally. She's got a garage. No more bird shit to wake up to and worrying about hail! So much room for activities!

Just finished mowing... kinda dirty but I still like it
Started out as temps/winter set as they are strong and lighter than stock. Unfortunately finances changed and fun money got diverted into the fund for a practice I am buying so they graduated to full time wheels until the acquisition of my practice is complete.
lol
Happy hour for a friend that is moving to the Bay. Two Audi S cars and mine.
