What is the ET of the 18x9 rim? Should fit easily, but depends on offset. Willtheyfit.com is a great resource for figuring out fitment if you have something that already works.

Why the desire for the bigger rim? Wider tires?

Turnermotorsport had a buy 3 get 1 free APEX sale last black friday. Shipping was $100 if I recall but there was no tax since its out of state.. Course you can get it sooner by picking it up from APEX. I believe you save $30-50 for picking up.

How does everyone have their HK sound system set up? (Treble,Bass,ect.)

Thanks for the info. I'm looking at getting these rims. 18.0 front and 18.9 rear. Offset is 35.

Balance and fader are in the middle. Treble and bass are 3/4 of the way high. I can look tonight for the exact setting.

I really like those. Should look great on your car. I think they are a little dark for my Monaco blue though.

Treble near max, Bass: 2 or 3 notches above flat.

I'm going to test drive a 2004 330i (non-ZHP) and worry if the dealer has reset the SES or other warning lights. In some place I read the SES comes back after 50 miles of driving. Is that correct ? Also, I wonder if asking Auto Zone to check for stored codes could be useful.

Any thoughts ?

Checking for stored codes is a great idea; not sure if the scanner includes when those codes were thrown, but having an idea of what has popped up before is helpful. As for an SES coming back, I don’t think that there is a set mileage, the light should just reappear if/when the same error condition reoccurs.

I don't know if it's a hard coded number, but there is a decent amount of miles for the computer to reset or something like that. I've heard anything between 50-100 miles.

If you have access a BMW DX computer can view old codes. Indy or dealer can do that.

Usually if the codes are reset, the OBDII readiness codes are no longer ready. That's also a good way to tell.

How would one get the readiness codes back in check? I don't have codes but my car shows not ready when hooked up to my scanner

You will need to drive cycle the car to get the readiness monitors ready.

Actually no. This only will re engage the OBDII readiness codes for smog inspections. Has nothing to do with the lost codes.

A few weeks ago my car seemed to be shaking when I was stopped and the SES light came on. I turned the car off and on and the SES light hasn't been back since. Can codes be stored or does the SES light have to actively be lit for an OBDII to read it? My car hasn't done it again since so Im not worried but Im curious as to what it was.

Go to Advance Auto and see if they will let your borrow a reader or check it for you.

I used a friend's OBDII and it returned with no codes and I did not see anything about getting stored codes. I guess Ill try Advanced Auto, maybe they can do it.

The simple code readers usually will only show up codes that are currently present. Stored codes will need a more advanced code reader like BMW DIS/ISTA or like an autologic etc.

Generally, everything flat. The previous owner upgraded the audio with BSW and Polk. The factory HK speakers will respond differently.

I've found my tranny can be a bit uncooperative at times (i.e. not wanting to go into gear), most notably in the winter (nowhere near as cold here as Montreal, but it can get down to -10c overnight at its worst). Can it really be as simple as what tranny fluid is being used? The previous owner says he put "Pentsoin MTF" in it. I've been thinking about rebuilding the shift linkage to see if that resolves the problem. Failing that I was going to investigate rebuild options.

Why can't I find any reason to bitch about my car even though the AC is working half ass, has a rattling noise in the rear deck on bumps, and the suspension is a little clunky and needs attention?

I can't seem to be angry at her no matter what she does. She left me stranded at a CVS parking lot in Colorado for a bad fuel pump and I still made sure she was OK until fixed. She on occasion, shuts off the AC in 96 degree Florida heat and I still love her.

So what's the solution for cupholders? I have a euro tray and I wish I could carry a drink sometimes. Anyone got any ideas or suggestions?

A water bottle still fits in the eurotray and you can close the tray partway and it will hold it.

I enjoy gourmet sodas a lot, and I need it to hold the drink vertically. If the drink has a cap, I just leave in the leg extension opening on the passenger seat.

Thanks for the link. Looks really nice. Is there any internal adjustment for size? (will it clamp down on smaller drinks)?

No adjustment, it's just bent metal. It can flex larger by a little but not much. I can try it out when I get back home on Wednesday. How big are the bottles you drink, glass Coke bottle size?
