What did you do for your ZHP/ BMW / MINI today? #2

Boy oh boy...not a good day for the ZHP at all.

- 8 codes. Misfire on all cylinders, P0171, P0174
- Very rough idle
- Knocking noise underneath the car when clutch is in neutral

I ordered a Dorman DISA and new intake boots...hoping this will take care of the problem. The knocking noise seems to come directly from the transmission.

Symptoms:
- Car in neutral, foot off the clutch
- Random knocking noise
- Foot on clutch, noise goes away
- Much more prominent with my engine misfiring

It must be some bearing of somesort...maybe input shaft or throwout bearing. I haven't figured it out yet.

HAHA. I did the same thing on my 735. Except, I had a mint set laying around from my Dad's old 750iL parts car. If I still had it, I would have bought some smileys, they can be had from ebay.de or some e34 guys on bimmerforums for sub 200.

Warmed up the ZHP for the first time in 3 weeks. Also temporarily installed my tse3 into the trunk as I have no where else to put it till I take my car out of storage. Should be soon! It feels like such a different car inside than my xi due to the full black interior and sport seats. God I miss my ZHP...

Ouch, no good. My throw out bearing/input shaft has made a very quiet clatter in neutral with my foot off the clutch since I have owned it. Never progressed or got louder, so I never worried about it. But yours might have let go!

My car is making a horrendous noise at the front; when I did my 100k overhaul, I didn't replace one of the idler's, my notes said to "inspect and order if needed." My friend that helped me said it would just be a lil noisy, well, I'm wondering if this is my culprit... I posted a video below, I can't figure out how to embed it in this forum...

Sound kinda like my car. Probably the same thing. Tell me how it goes :)

21 is the Hydraulic tensioner assembly. You can replace only the idler on it for around $40.

If you have the belt off, turn the idler and listen for any noise. Mine were loose and noisy.

Does the noise change with RPM at all? Or even go away? Mine went away completely after about 5 minutes of driving before replacing.
